The Hegseth thing is in my world. I am a mid level deep stater. I have agreed to work long into retirement on technical projects that improve what we get for our money. I hurt the efficiency of the money laundering. I have been doing this for 50 years and I have had some congressmen real mad at me. There are a lot of people like me. We are very happy to see lllloyydd Austin go. Hegseth looks like he will do fine. Plans to crush him will not be appreciated. What would be appreciated is if foreign bases, procurements, black budgets got a similar treatment as foreign aid. Stop being cheerleaders and salesman for the MIC. Maybe not all stop, but some stop. Hegseth is part of a larger team. He will be fine. And stop bullying people all over the world. Sit.

Looks fab and I’m glad he did it, but really Leo was illegally sneaking into vaults and cutting apart stinking, rotting corpses. –They don’t look clean like this, and the lighting is terrible. In fact, all these are art representations that are internalized; best example being your grade-school poster, where your stomach isn’t really sitting around, puffed up like a balloon while empty, that’s a mental/logical REPRESENTATION, that isn’t at all real, which is illustrating what it DOES, not what it is. Your stomach is always contracted around the food inside it, but what good to show a stomach with no interior volume? It looks like a line, a dot. Same with a lot of these other illustrations, you cut an arm apart, it doesn’t look like that. It only looks like that to your mind, your intelligence. In reality, there’d be nothing but blood, filler, fat, tendons, all kinds of very real things that are not the musculature he’s trying to communicate here. Now the weird part happens when the map becomes the territory, vital as the map is.

Gazprom in turmoil, forced to hike prices on Russians in the middle of winter

    • Gazprom Forced To Hike Prices On Russians In The Middle Of Winter (RMX)

Facing losses, huge debts, and layoffs, Gazprom is now turning to Russian citizens to help it out of its financial woes, writes “Rzeczpospolita.”

Gazprom’s management is reportedly demanding that the Kremlin raise gas prices threefold on the domestic market.

Alexey Sakharov, head of Gazprom’s strategic department, spoke about the company’s difficult situation: “The current level of regulated wholesale gas prices in Russia does not ensure the creation of financial resources in sufficient quantities to make the necessary capital investments in the maintenance and development of gas infrastructure in the interests of Russian customers.
And this cannot but affect the reliability of gas supplies in the long term,” he warned during a meeting of the Council of Experts in the State Duma.

Sakharov argued that the price of gas for Russians must rise to a level that will allow Gazprom to provide gas to all regions and implement investment projects.
The company will also have to triple the tariffs for gas transmission for independent producers.

In May 2024, Remix reported that Gazprom had reported its first loss in 20 years and was running a $7 billion deficit.
Earlier in January, the oil giant announced that it would have to lay off more than 1,500 employees from its headquarters in St. Petersburg.
    “Gazprom is currently generating losses.
The rate frozen since 2015 is 62.5 rubles per thousand cubic meters per 100 km, and the company’s expenses amount to 109 rubles.
The price that Gazprom needs and demands from the Kremlin is 170 rubles,” the portal quotes Sakharov as saying.

DOGE Seeks to Shed Vast Amounts of Government Office Space.
Here’s How Much the Government Leases, and Where, and What Leases it Can Shed During Trump’s Term
    by Wolf Richter • Jan 25, 2025 • 12 Comments
For CRE, the motto in 2024 was “Survive till 2025” via extend-and-pretend. Now it’s 2025, and here comes the government’s office space.
By Wolf Richter for WOLF STREET.
The DOGE people in the Trump administration are considering shedding a big portion of the massive office space that the government owns or leases nationwide, managed by the General Services Administration (GSA), including selling two-thirds of the office space the government owns and terminating three-quarters of the leased office space, according to the WSJ.

Much of this office space is vacant or underused and poorly maintained due to lack of funding, according to GSA testimony before Congress in 2023, cited by the WSJ, which further noted:

“A recent report from Sen. Joni Ernst, a Republican from Iowa who chairs the Senate DOGE caucus, found that not one of the headquarters for any major agency or department in Washington is more than half full.
GSA-owned buildings in Washington, D.C., average about a 12% occupancy rate.
The government owns more than 7,500 vacant buildings across the country, and more than 2,200 that are partially empty.”

The office sector is already in a depression, with default rates that exceed those during the worst moments of the Financial Crisis.
Putting this inventory on the market for sale is going to weigh on the already collapsed prices of older office buildings – prices of 50-70% below the last sale before the pandemic are now common.

And terminating leases is going to stress office buildings, their landlords, and their lenders even more, likely entailing more defaults and foreclosure sales. This is a much needed but very bitter medicine to alleviate government waste.

What office landlords and their lenders are facing.
Here we look at the leased office space, where those buildings are, and what portion of the leased space the GSA has the right to terminate in 2025, and also through 2028 (Trump 2.0), based on an analysis from Trepp, which tracks commercial real estate debt and CMBS.

GSA leases 149 million square feet (msf) of office space around the US.
GSA pays $5.2 billion in annual rent to private-sector landlords.
Through 2028, GSA has the right to terminate 53.1 msf of leases, or 35.5% of its leased space, spread over 2,532 properties.
In 2025, GSA has termination rights on 21.2 msf spread over more than 1,000 properties,
If GSA terminates all possible leases during Trump 2.0, it would save the government $1.87 billion in annual rent after 2028.
In the vast Washington DC metro, GSA leases nearly 10% of the entire office market, 35.8 msf in 446 buildings, and can terminate 9.6 msf of that in 2025.
In the Washington D.C. metro, GSA currently pays $1.47 billion in annual rent.
GSA leases nearly 6% of the office space in the Kansas City metro (DoD, USPS, Treasury, VA, and USDA), 4.3 msf, of which it can terminate 1.0 msf in 2025.
Here are the top 10 metros in terms of government office space. GSA leases 66.3 msf of office space in them and has termination rights in 2025 on 18.9 msf (28.5%):

When mass photography became ‘cheap’, everyone had to have a ‘passport’ with a photo, the State(s) took control of that.

From RT at top post. In recent weeks, Trump has expressed ambitions to expand US territory and showed interest in annexing Greenland, Canada, and the Panama Canal.

    @TDK, from last night:
But, but, but War is Not Stupid. War is:
    1) selfish
    2) a tool in apex-predatory-ecosystem-management, which prevents “overgrazing” by humans in the capacity of farmers, and consumers of other natural resources.

The challenge, realizing that this is the case, is to devise and implement a Better System of Ecosystem Management.
Then selfishness might be dealt with, or it might have already been dealt with in that process.

Je suis d’accord, Noirette. What is the difference between Crimea and (under threat) Greenland? None at all, really. And just where does this expansionism end? The rest of the Anglophone world (UK, Australia, NZ) is de facto a part of the US system already.

Christian nationalism seems to be part of the US cultural background. Ok then, so wouldn’t it be interesting if just maybe the Tribulation started a few days ago? Seven years cut short, halved, by the return of Christ? (No, I’m not holding my breath.)

But globally things do seem to working themselves up at a fever pitch. I remain morbidly curious about what comes at us all next.

Putin Ready To Meet ‘Smart, Pragmatic’ Trump To ‘Talk Calmly’ On Oil, Energy, Ukraine
Russian President Vladimir Putin has reiterated Friday that he’s ready to meet with US President Donald Trump in order to hopefully find “common ground” on strategic security and economic issues, particularly related to the Ukraine war.
“It will likely be better for us to meet, and based on today’s realities, speak calmly about areas that are of interest for both the US and Russia,” Putin said in televised comments. “We are ready, but this depends above all on the decision and choice of the current US administration.”
The Russian leader further acknowledged that Trump is a “pragmatic” and “smart” leader…
“I’ve always had a businesslike, pragmatic and even trusting relationship with the current president,” Putin said in the state broadcast.
And most interestingly, he continued: “And I can’t help but agree that if his victory hadn’t been stolen in 2020, the crisis in Ukraine might not have emerged in 2022.”
    https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/putin-ready-meet-smart-pragmatic-trump-talk-calmly-oil-energy-ukraine

Gilbert Doctorow, Miscellaneous latest developments on the coming Trump-Putin summit
..One of those other notes was Putin’s dismissal of the threat of more American sanctions if Russia should not conclude a truce now with Ukraine. After all, he said, Trump is a smart and pragmatic man, and additional sanctions on Russia could only harm the economy of the United States.
More importantly, when agreeing that it is highly desirable for American and Russian leaders to meet and consult and when remarking that the absence of such contacts was due to the policy of the previous American administration and not his responsibility, Putin went on to state clearly what Russia expects to discuss at a summit with Trump.
Yesterday’s issue of The Moscow Times has chosen a quote from the interviews that is overlooked by most major U.S. or UK based newspapers:
“It’s certainly better that we meet and, based on current realities, discuss calmly all areas of interest to both the U.S. and Russia…”
“Based on current realities”: this means based on appreciation of the real state of the war on the ground in Ukraine, where the Russians have the upper hand and are daily pushing back the Ukrainian forces and freeing the Donbas in fulfillment of the objectives of the Special Military Operation. This is full rejection of the underlying assumption of Trump’s negotiating position that the war is a stalemate that is costing the lives of soldiers on both sides to no purpose.
“Calmly discuss all areas of interest”: this means that the war in Ukraine is only one subject which the Russians intend to discuss with Trump. The other subjects are the structure of international security, stability, the arms race...
..For the moment, let us concede that at the meeting with Putin Trump may get the truce that he has demanded going back to his pre-election campaign rallies. However, that truce will surely be conditional on the Ukrainians retreating and freeing the still unconquered territories of the Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporozhie and Kherson oblasts that Putin set down as his precondition to truce and start of peace negotiations back in June 2024. It will be interesting to see how Trump sells this outcome to the American and European publics. https://gilbertdoctorow.com/2025/01/25/miscellaneous-latest-developments-on-the-coming-trump-putin-summit/

Thanks FS. (“Capital” must grow) Unravelling the Mystery of War, Israel Shamir
Too many elements of the Ukrainian war do not make sense. Why Russia makes its movement west so slowly? Why there are no fast and decisive strikes, other for them or against them? What are the true plans of the US and UK? Does the US want to undermine Russia? I met with the Sweden-based Professor Z [RZ] a man of vast learning and deep understanding to ask him these questions. Professor Z thinks that the Ukrainian war makes sense only if we presume that is the war of the US against Europe for the US dollar. The US beats Russia on its head with Ukraine and bleeds EU. The UK tries to bleed both the US and EU. Why do they do it? What is their purpose?
Prof RZ: The most important issue is the fate of the American dollar. Specifically, it’s about its supremacy in the economic world.
That supremacy alone generates an income of up to a trillion dollars a year for the US. And it’s not just about the money. The US military might is tightly related to dollar supreme position. The trillion dollars of seigniorage the US extracts from the world is largely spent on maintaining the US military complex.
There’s no way the USA would let the dollar slip to the second or third position among world currencies. If this happens, most of the dollars stored abroad (and there are more than 7 trillion of them) will rush back to USA shores like a tsunami. Inflation would skyrocket, and the standard of living would drop like a stone. The resulting political storm could easily tear the country apart. So, the US would rather see the world go down than tolerate the dollar’s demise. This is especially true under the Trump administration.
Now the question is – who threatens the dollar? The usual answer is China, as it’s the only country with a large enough economy to surpass the American one. This is true, but in international trade, the Chinese yuan is only in fourth position with less than 5% of all payments. As a share of global foreign exchange reserves, yuan accounts for only 2%, while the US dollar accounts for 58%, almost 30 times more! That makes yuan a potential, but not immediate, threat to the dollar. However, in Chinese cross-border trade, yuan has recently surpassed the dollar in terms of trade volume. So the Chinese threat to the dollar is indeed growing.
But the euro accounts for 20% of world foreign currency reserves. This one-fifth of all reserves could instead be dollar-denominated. Thus, the euro “stole” one quarter of the dollar’s position, ten times more than yuan. This is important because world currency reserves grow as fast or faster as the world’s economy, demanding more reserve currency every year. Issuing this currency and sending it abroad for storage as investment or in exchange for foreign-produced commodities is essentially… well, a money printing operation. Nothing can be as profitable as that. Therefore, the euro is currently the biggest threat to the dollar. And thus, objectively, the EU is the US’s main enemy…
..RZ: Both provide access to the Arctic shelf, but of course Greenland offers much more of it. The Arctic possesses the only remaining untapped deposits of oil and gas, which are still irreplaceable as energy sources. Despite all the green energy talks and uncounted billions thrown into building solar and wind power, global production and consumption of fossil fuels continue to grow. With Trump coming to power, this consumption can only accelerate. Right-wing parties in Europe are also sceptical of the Green Deal. AfD in Germany promises to take down all the ugly windmills—and they are all ugly. But the oil peak is real; the most productive oil fields are near exhaustion. The largest conventional oil field in the world, Ghawar in Saudi Arabia, is in decline. That means—if you want more energy, drill, baby, drill. But where to drill? The Arctic is the only hope remaining for finding large-scale deposits.
IS: So you think Trump is serious about the annexation of Greenland?
RZ: And Canada, too. Dead serious. When this is done, the US will have more than half of the Arctic shelf, closely followed by Russia. These two countries will have more than 90% of the total, with the much smaller remaining part being largely Norwegian. However, the caveat is that without explicit or implicit Russian approval, the US couldn’t think of annexing either of these two countries. This is because such a move is clearly not in the interest of China. China is very powerful militarily, but it is too far away from the area and, without Russia, it won’t be able to interfere.
So the deal is, as long as we can see today, that Russia takes Ukraine and casts its shadow over all of Europe, especially its Eastern and Central parts, while the US grabs Canada and Greenland and once again rules over both American continents. The Monroe and Brezhnev doctrines are being reborn—with a vengeance.
IS: Why is this happening now? Is it only a shortage of energy?
RZ: Not only. The general problem of the world’s economy is the overproduction of capital. There are simply no large economic areas left where one could invest profitably after deducting expenses, risks, and inflation. Too many nations have become capitalist, with their populations earning more than they consume. The difference—capital eager to be invested—grows every day. The planet is already nearly fully globalized, and no significant profit can be expected from further globalization.
This is not the first time such a situation has emerged, and history provides several ways out for a dominant economy: a global war, hyperinflation, and territorial expansion. To be an effective solution, a global war like WWII would need to destroy a serious fraction of global capital—say 20% to 30%. Regional conflicts, such as between Ukraine and Russia, are too small for such a purpose. Only burning out half of Europe—say, from Moscow to Berlin or Paris—would suffice. But such a war today would very quickly become nuclear and spiral out of control.
The same applies to hyperinflation; even though it effectively destroys capital, it also harms the ruling class, opening the way for revolutions with unclear consequences—such as in 1930s Germany. We also see how the COVID pandemic, whether natural or artificial, has led to an inflation spike that ultimately resulted in elite change—not least in the USA.
IS: So what remains is territorial expansion?
RZ: Exactly. The only problem is that annexing both Canada and Greenland may not be enough for the US to pull itself out of the death economic spiral.… https://www.unz.com/ishamir/unravelling-the-mystery-of-war/

John Helmer has specifics: THE OLIGARCHS’ PICNIC – WHAT’S ON THE MENU WHEN TRUMP’S OLIGARCHS NEGOTIATE WITH PUTIN’S OLIGARCHS
There’s not much difference, politically speaking, between the teddy bears of the old song, the oligarchs who believe they have just put Donald Trump in power, and the oligarchs who believe they have been keeping Vladimir Putin in power since 1999. They all want the same “treat today, marvellous things to eat, and wonderful games to play”.
In a word, money in billion-dollar tranches. And because they believe this, they have told Trump and Putin that once they get to the picnic they have planned on the Ukraine battlefield, they are bound to be able to agree on what they want to do together.
Of course, it will be in secret “beneath the trees where nobody sees”.
Between 1911 and 1915, during World War I, Robert Michels, an Italian sociologist, explained how commonplace this was. He not only described the inevitability that oligarchs would come to dominate the governments and opposition organisations on both sides of that war; this he called the “iron law of oligarchy”. He also reported that the war itself would accelerate the process by which this oligarch domination on both sides would dictate the outcome to suit the common interests of them both...
.. Today we are at roughly the same point, but oligarchs think in commercial terms, not social or ethical ones. For the oligarchs, the point on both sides is that the sanctions war over the past three years has created the largest gap between true asset value and trade value which exists in the global market today – this is the gap between the pre-war bankable value of Russian commodities, resources, and corporate assets and their discounted price under sanctions. To the oligarchs on both sides, the point is how to make money out of closing this gap through the end-of-war negotiations.
A handful of Russian sources who are close enough to the Russian oligarchs was asked to predict what the end-of-war terms are likely to be that the Russian and American oligarchs will press their presidents to agree to. Here are the terms they are predicting:
    Oil and Gas…
    Boeing Aircraft…
    Real Estate…
    Re-dollarization…
    Free-Skies, Overflights of Russia…
The Dubai Hub, the Cyprus shutdown…
..How will the bears pay for their picnic?
With memecoins and cryptocurrencies, a Moscow source adds. “I believe Trump will be very nice to the Emiratis, and to the Saudis as well. The likes of Justin Sun – he’s the brain and operator behind Donald and Melania Trump’s cryptocurrency schemes — and of Pavel Durov of Telegram protect the core of their businesses in UAE, and those are businesses Trump and his family are already profiting from. It’s where they may eventually accumulate their wealth. The Trump oligarchs and the Putin oligarchs, too. https://johnhelmer.net/the-oligarchs-picnic-whats-on-the-menu-when-trumps-oligarchs-negotiate-with-putins-oligarchs/#more-90972

Trump says he will reach out to North Korea’s Kim again
During the Fox interview, Trump recalled his attempt to reach an arms deal with North Korea’s allies Russia and China at the end of his first term.
The 2019 effort would have set new limits for unregulated Russian nuclear weapons and to persuade China to join an arms control pact, according to reports from the time. “I was very close to having a deal. I would have made a deal with (Russian leader Vladimir) Putin on that, denuclearization… But we had a bad election that interrupted us,” he said, referring to his 2020 loss to Democrat Joe Biden.
Trump’s nominee to lead the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, recently labelled North Korea as a “nuclear power” in a statement submitted to a Senate panel, according to reports.

CBP One App Shutdown As Mass Deportations Of Illegal Aliens Begins
Donald Trump has wasted no time and the mass deportations of migrants have begun. First and foremost, Trump has shut down the notorious CBP One app – This is the same app that Biden denied as being a factor in the surge of illegals applying for asylum. In reality, the app was perhaps the single most important tool used by migrants to game the system and gain entry into the US. Biden’s revamped app streamlined the process like people were ordering amnesty on Amazon.

Caitlin again: Trump Reveals Plan For The Ethnic Cleansing Of Gaza
Well that didn’t take long. President Trump has said he wants to “clean out” Gaza and relocate its population to US client states Egypt and Jordan, which would of course be a textbook case of ethnic cleansing. It would also align perfectly with longstanding Israeli agendas to remove Palestinians from their homeland so that their territory can be seized and settled by Jews.
Speaking with the press on board Air Force One on Saturday, Trump said he talked to Jordan’s King Abdullah II about taking in large numbers of Palestinians from Gaza, and said he plans to speak with Egypt’s president Abdel Fattah el-Sisi about doing the same.
“I’d like Egypt to take people and I’d like Jordan to take people,” Trump told reporters, saying the Gaza Strip is “a real mess” and “literally a demolition site”.
“You’re talking about probably a million and a half people, and we just clean out that whole thing,” Trump said…

Greensburg Diocese, at least, never disputed those facts nor did they ever trivialize their maladministration of their priest’s criminal conduct.

From such a mindset arises the following discussion and the sign the apocalypse should be upon us.

No society and absolutely no country deserves to survive the need for the following absurd dialogue from ZH.

“As a physician, it is beyond my comprehension that anyone would not intervene to save an innocent and defenseless human life,” Rep. Gregory Murphy (R-N.C.) said, defending the bill on the House floor.

“Neglect is harm. Neglect is immoral. Abortion is not the issue.”

The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act requires medical professionals present at a newborn abortion survivor’s birth to provide the same level of life-saving care to that baby as would be offered to any other premature infant of the same gestational age.

The bill mandates the transfer of such infants to a hospital for additional treatment and also establishes reporting requirements for violations. Penalties for violating the law could include fines and up to five years in prison, though the child’s mother would be protected from prosecution.

Democrats, however, argued that infanticide is already illegal and that the bill is therefore unnecessary.

“This bill does not solve a problem,” Rep. Kelly Morrison (D-Minn.), an obstetrician, said before voting against the measure in the House.”

We should all be able to agree that a baby born alive after an attempted abortion must be protected,” the majority leader said on the Senate floor.

“But I think it is safe to say that what it all boils down to is this: Democrats will oppose legislation to provide appropriate medical care to newborn children who survive abortions because they are afraid

“Doctors are already both honored and obligated to provide appropriate care for their patients. It is illegal to kill a newborn infant in all 50 states.”

Watch: Trump Destroys LA Mayor To Her Face During Wild Press Conference Spat
    https://www.zerohedge.com/political/watch-trump-destroys-la-mayor-her-face-during-wild-press-conference-spat

    Did he? Kinda. But how?

We know marxists know their ideas are so garbage that their ideas cannot win by expressing them.

There’s a few different reasons, such as “Hey, wait a minute, didn’t you guys kill 150 million in the 20th century? 23 Hitlers worth of killing non combatant civilians? Plus all the barbed wire, mines, walls, watchtowers, and machine guns were to keep people IN not keep a flood of eager people OUT?”

“Yeah, but….” = psychopath. No further “conversation”™ OR discussion needed.

So the NEW way is to use operant conditioning. The kind that would work not only on a dog but a worm. Discussion is BAD, there will BE no discussion. (because garbage ideas) Instead, use talking points and other tactics to engage the unconscious parts of their brain, or at least those of onlookers.

When discussion is attempted, the marxist rushes from the bailey up into the motte. When the person on the other side says “Well, ok, I’ll try meeting you intellectually there” the marxist pearl clutches, naw, that was never me, and leaves you up there alone in the motte, standing there waving from down in the bailey.

“Why won’t you engage me in an open, earnest, discussion of ideas?”

Because talk is only for tactics and talking points that EVADE exposure of garbage ideas while pragmatically advancing them. As unconsciously as possible. (ie with as much disrespect to the human soul as possible)

So what do you do? You go up into his motte and start throwing his TV, his Couch, out the window. He would have to stand in your way to block this and blocking would require standing your ground, which is the exact opposite of the religiously-followed orthodoxy structure of Pragmatism™.

So just walk right past the faux pearl-clutching crocodile tear crying marxist and lever his sideboard out the tower window. Fling his John Lennon Imagine™ 45’s out the window like frisbees. Load his Lada™, his Yugo™, into a trebuchet and launch it into the sunset. If he won’t fight, he won’t fight. Walk past his unresisting unwashed ungroomed oily useless carcass and have the conversation YOU want to have. Eat his sacred cows in front of him with ketchup while he whimpers, adhering to Pragmatism™.

Trump immediately cut in – saying “But the people are willing to clean out their own debris. It doesn’t cost a lot.

“You should let them do it. Because by the time you hire contractors, it’s going to be two years. People are willing to get a dumpster and do it themselves and clean it out. There’s not that much left. It’s all incinerated, and you know, it’s just going to take a long time if you do “[it].

homeowners don’t want to “wait around for seven months till the city hires some demolition contract that’s going to charge $25,000.”

“I’m exercising my emergency powers. You have to exercise them also. You can do everything within 24 hours.”

Trump pointed out that people are saying they’ve been told they will have to wait up to 18 months for permits to clean up, and if he is willing to waive federal restrictions then the Mayor should do the same.

“That’s why you have no insurance, because you made it so impossible. People that think like you made it so impossible,” Trump continued.

“I’ll tell you this. I’ve never seen a state where almost nobody has insurance. I said, ‘What happened?’ They said, like, six months ago, they all left. Two years ago, they had different quadrants, but they left. You have very little insurance here. I’ve never seen anything like it,”

Talked right past the lesbian marxists at the meeting and made it about their ACTUAL plans they will not discuss.

Forcing the homeowners out of their homes through delays, regulations, etc.

He simply refused to have a discussion in which he, Alinskyishly, was required to “Follow ‘his’ rulez™” and pretend he was dealing with serious people with supposedly responsible titles whose mouth-sounds about rebuilding might mean actual rebuilding. No. Not required to follow the forms of a meeting with reasonably responsible adults meaning what they say.

So anyway… (actual reality- what you will really do – which we will be talking about factually now, while, and after you do it if you get away with it)
