It is wonderful we have finally made use of the ability to work from home, but what happens to the skyscraper office buildings? I do not approve of the way they demolished them last time a few of them needed to come down.
The WHO safeguarding world health? You must mean the band.
“…a little cash left over” after selling their house doesn’t sound like enough for gas for their new “home” let alone rent.Bye-bye Abe. A bit of good news!

Trump International Hotel Vancouver is permanently closed

Aug 27 2020, 9:50 pmThree and a half years after it first opened its doors, Trump International Hotel and Tower Vancouver has permanently shuttered.
However, the property is not owned by the Trump Organization, but rather local developer Holborn Group, which built the 616-ft-tall, 63-storey tower at 1139 West Georgia Street. It is the second tallest building in Metro Vancouver, after Living Shangri-La directly across the street.
Holborn Group reached an agreement with the Trump Organization in 2013 to use the real estate mogul’s hotel brand and management for the development. The hotel’s 147 guest rooms, amenities, and ballrooms occupy the first 15 floors of the tower. The upper levels contain 217 upscale condominiums.
The future of the hotel property is unknown at this time, but over the years it has been the subject of much speculation that it could be taken over by another international hotel operator, such as the Four Seasons, which recently permanently closed its longtime location at CF Pacific Centre.August 28, 2020 at 2:51 pm #62677Doc RobinsonParticipant“It would really help to know what this [Germany] mask mandate entails. Does it include people outside? In their own homes? These are important details.”
From a Berlin source:
You are required to shield your mouth and nose with a cloth covering (scarves are acceptable) while using Berlin public transportation, and while in grocery stores and other shops. Failure to do so can result in fines starting at 50 euros in nearly all of Germany’s 16 states (Saxony-Anhalt is the exception). The BVG, Berlin’s transit authority, imposes fines starting at 50 euros for people who fail to cover their noses and mouths on subways, buses and trams. Masks are also required at airports and train stations.

August 28, 2020 at 4:46 pm #62678Susmarie108ParticipantA well written and accurate summary from RT. The race has tightened, clearly victory is not in the bag for the Dems. Take nothing for granted. From today forward it will be an epic battle to the end – bring it on!
What do these two things have in common? Dems not denouncing riots/violence at rallies and Repubs not wearing masks or social distancing at rallies (political and motorcycle). Selective pretending and selective defending? Denying obvious reality. How does this insanity help anyone?
Nancy, Chuck, Mitch are all in the way. The unrest and chaos manifesting now is just the tip of the iceberg; wait until the economic reality (broken through financialization and killed by Covid) kicks in. If the Dems take the House and Senate but not the WH there could be an exciting opportunity for the next generation to step up and lead. Do you think President Trump would be willing to work with them? If Dems take both chambers, we will be seeing Bernie for one final push to shepherd next gen leaders – helping to focus their ideas, passion and purpose to into meaningful roles and goals – on the road to rethinking/reinventing/rebirthing everything.

Thanks Doc R. Seems common, many countries do this, other than the fine.
August 28, 2020 at 7:01 pm #62680Mr. HouseParticipantAugust 28, 2020 at 7:25 pm #62681Dr. DParticipantYup, they were lying: “Police in Port Arthur, located on Texas’ Gulf Coast, said Thursday “it appears the city fared well as there has been no loss of life and no catastrophic damages reported.”
“The storm surge that was predicted to be as high as 10 feet before landfall wound up being closer to 3 feet, he said.”
Actually the maps and websites still say 20 feet. So off by 700%. Deaths = 6, so virtually none. Most buildings still there with damage. Outage = 860k. Pretty average. A Nor’easter to Maine can have that many.

August 28, 2020 at 8:53 pm #62683Mr. HouseParticipantCIA had no problem drugging people in the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s. No problem selling drugs to fund their black budget, but they’d NEVER start a coup in the good ole USA
August 28, 2020 at 9:19 pm #62684Mr. HouseParticipantAugust 29, 2020 at 2:57 am #62685VietnamVetParticipant2020 is the ultimate “there is no alternative” election. 61 million Americans no longer commute to work. $600 dollars a week for the unemployed ended weeks ago. Evictions are starting. 185,901 Americans have died, to date, from coronavirus.
Donald Trump is right. Democrats are responsible. But the majority party that holds the White House and Senate is even more responsible. Denial of the Pandemic Depression by the elite’s lackeys won’t work. If there is another no change election, unrest will continue swell unchecked across the USA.
Having spent almost three years, half a century ago, in the US Army and a year in a war zone, seeing the police coddle up to armed kids who don’t know crap is terrifying. Sooner or later, unless Democracy is restored, the out of work gangs of purposeless boys will find their fellow mates, learn to barricade, direct fire, and conduct ambushes. Hell will break loose.
