Why should Russia, Iran, China (or even Lebanon for the matter) want to switch from a perfectly serviceable and successfully progressing war of attrition (that they just happening to be WINNING!) over to a HOT hot nuclear war which they (and everybody else) would certainly LOSE? That would be stupid.
