Lovely Picasso; the rest is ugly and the normitive for our time; our time…
Just what is that to be…February 15, 2019 at 12:08 pm #45403Dr. DParticipantFebruary 15, 2019 at 12:36 pm #45404Dr. DParticipant• School Climate Strikes: ‘The Beginning Of Great Change’ (G.)
If protesting changed anything, it’d be illegal. They love venting our emotion uselessly on some new virtue signalling: it’s all that keeps them in power. You could boycott Twitter and useless purchases and bring them to heel in an hour with the tax revenue. But they’re thrilled that the signalling about signalling is really getting around as people have seen the signals and the signallers…while still doing nothing but signalling. #Winning!
A single tree planted would be worth more than all their signalling combined because it’s real, something they’ve long forgotten.
And what is this with airplanes? That’s got to be BS. Both use oil, one #2 Diesel, the other highly refined Kero, one travels 70mph, the other 200mph, they both travel the distance, both cabins are full, yet the one that arrives in 1/3 of the time is LESS efficient? If you’re arguing the train would go anyway or has more people, planes also have 100 people and are also going anyway. It’s hard to imagine much difference, but I can’t research it since I’m pretty sure all the stats will be equal parts BS as everything else I read and I have better things to do with my time than re-invent stats that aren’t crooked. Like plant that tree and others like it.
February 15, 2019 at 1:56 pm #45405sumac.carolParticipantThe issues with air travel that I see are the very large distances that people travel to meet their needs for wonderlust. People now see these trips as essential. The scientists suggest that air travel, mile per mile, is significantly more harmful environmentallly than any other mode of transportation. Venice (population 50,000) gets 30,000,000 tourists per year. Major tourist destinations (fed in part by air b&b) are becoming uninhabitable for the regular citizens. We cannot continue to jet about treating the planet like Disneyland. Some travel by any mode can be understood as necessary. The idea that we should all feel okay about hopping on a plane to go see some rare species on some pristine part of the globe is the definition of insanity.
On the tree planting: I see this as impractical. Where do people plant these trees? Should they plant them before or after they go on their vacation to (insert jet holiday destination here). I cannot see continuing a jersey lifestyle for nonessential travel while planting a tree every now and then.
February 15, 2019 at 3:13 pm #45411zerosumParticipantSince when have you see any gov. be able to spend +1B$ in less than 2 years.
Trump wont be able to do it.
The democrats will delay it with “procedures”February 15, 2019 at 3:32 pm #45412sumac.carolParticipantCorrection: Jersey lifestyle should be jetset.
February 15, 2019 at 3:53 pm #45413anticlimacticParticipantThe German Economy
What have the Germans done for their economy in recent years?
They backed US sanctions against Russia – harming their economy. They were forced to stop trade with Iran – harming their economy.
US sanctions did not really affect the US, it was really Europe. Trump did explain that Europe were competitors and so were fair game. The Nordstream sanctions are more expicitly anti-European. Also now a trade war. I am sure the US will soon tell Germany what it can sell to China. They are just about to impose more sanctions on Russia – they do not know what they are until the US tells them!
Germany was said to benefit from the Eurozone, so they imposed austerity!
They followed the orders of Soros to allow migrants to flood in and are spending tens of billions of Euros every year to support them.
After Fukushima they decided to abandon nuclear power and depend in part on energy imports from France and Norway. Now they want to get rid of coal power. Modern industry depends on a stable power supply. A few years ago Germany had a major power outage. It was only for a fraction of a second but was enough to cause huge damage to German manufacturing.
They also give large subsidies to the middle classes for solar panels. If solar panels in Greece need a subsidy those in northern Europe are going to be much, much less productive.
Generally by being an American puppet and imposing trendy ‘Green’ initiatives it is no wonder that the German economy is failing.

Oligarch’s jets to Davos and elsewhere, military exercises or just plain flying / sailing/ driving in “show of force”. W2 workers commute to and from soul crushing jobs, ecological depletion of all sorts – all beyond our slightest means to slow or, God forbid, stop other than writing or reading about.
I understand your sentiment, but until (violent) reset nothing will change. On that I am certain.
On my daily routine I am extremely consciousness abut “mindless trail” that I may leave, like driving around just for the sake of driving around, living the lights on or unnecessary heating (no AC cooling for me at all) excessive use of detergents. I do carry a smallest crumpled wrapping or paper in my pocket until I find a trash can. All my income is result of using my head and two hands, thus I had never exploited a fellow human…etc, etc.
Having said that, contrary to my earlier beliefs about flying, I had decided to see the wonders of the world, with the well deserved “F-it” attitude.February 15, 2019 at 5:56 pm #45416PlanetaryCitizenParticipantYes, yes. Zero Hedge and Russia Today, beacons of truth in reporting.
…”Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe admitted that he rushed to open the Russia probe out of fear of being fired.” Technically true but egregiously misleading. Makes it seem like he feared for himself when in fact he feared the information on Trump would would disappear if he were fired. For you foreigners, what he said is all over the damn TV.
And any “President” that has and will be in office for 24 years and is reportedly working on a constitutional amendment to make it possible to extend that period is clearly the virtuous Statesman he’s made out to be. No hanky panky there. Crimea was a referendum just waiting to happen. Please!
February 15, 2019 at 6:20 pm #45417zerosumParticipantImagine how terrible life must be for a person to chose some other country to immigrate/live.
Imagine how ill informed that person must be to chose the USA as the best option.
I’ve gone more than 3 time for affordable medical service and it was not to the USA.February 15, 2019 at 8:16 pm #45418PlanetaryCitizenParticipantMedical care in the USA is indeed a racket, or market based if you prefer. Profit based medical systems have an inherent conflict of interest. It’s unavoidable. Non-profit has a better chance of attending to its mission, and I emphasize chance. And it’s demonstrably cheaper as most industrialized nations clearly demonstrate. But then that would be a lot like the democratic socialism that is the fire department and the police department etc. Imagine living next door to the guy who couldn’t afford to buy his fire insurance. Or the socialism that is the NIH the next time a major potential pandemic comes along.
February 15, 2019 at 9:19 pm #45419zerosumParticipantthe next time a major potential pandemic comes along.
All the capitalist will become socialists or die.
