January 27, 2022 at 5:52 pm #99236NoiretteParticipantVeracious P. posted, on the previous thread:
One of the “most sacred” RNs in my wife’s familia is making $120 per jab, with a minimum of $2K per per diem for manning the front lines.
The payments to the jabbers are offered, afaik, all over the ‘devp’ world.
In France it is around 15 – 20 euros per jab (to those employed in the national health service / dependent on it, like rural GPs.) As reported in the MSM, gvmt. websites (hard to find the info), announcements to practices, +, that I have heard about, from the ground.
Not stellar, the stipend (as lodged by Gvmt. for x service) is only supposed to compensate for the time spent on getting informed consent (not done, and in any case NOT formally, nothing is signed) and injecting the fluid, representing minutes, maybe around 15.
Still, 10 jabs a day.. OH Man. 100, now you’re talking… get rich quick and move to Morocco!
From two ex. perso aquaintance, 2 youngish (25..) not exactly dead-beats but having zero / tiny income and being dependents have been roped in to jab the public, as they can earn “much more” (as compared to what is not stated) and are “serving the community”… 🙂
A tatoo artist (his Mom joked to me “He just has to stab a bit deeper”) and a young woman, well I’ll skip that. A flash opportunity to earn quite a bit, without any qualifications being required (afaik, though there are some ‘checks’..) ….?

Fully vaccinated* (if you work/volunteer or attend a highest risk setting*** you must not attend this setting for 10 days).
Self-monitor for symptoms for 10 days.

January 27, 2022 at 9:25 pm #99253ezlxa1949ParticipantSlight unease in Australia
According to The Conversation today, that completely objective and totally impartial academic newsletter, momentum is growing for a Royal Commission into how the pandemic has been (mis)handled in general.
(If you’re not aware, a Royal Commission, a.k.a. Commission of Inquiry, can be very high-powered and unstoppable. For more details, go to Wikipedia.)
Good, but cynical me says that the terms of reference will carefully omit any reference to alternative treatments and why it may be argued that elements of the Australian medical establishment have deliberately withheld life-saving information from their own profession and from the general public.
But then this whole affair is such a tangled web of spaghetti that unravelling it could take years. Who knows what the state of public health will be like then. The government by then may well be completely different, and we all know how governments can and do ignore the findings of Royal Commissions.

And cloth masks versus N95, didn’t we already establish this last year? From CDC data? That also showed N95s only showing a 1.9% difference in cases over six months? In that, masks don’t work no matter which one is used?

Inside the Minds of Internet Trolls: A Psychological Analysis

January 28, 2022 at 12:36 am #99265OroborosParticipantInteresting take by Micael Hudson being interviewed over at The Saker by Andrei Martyanov
Andrei: So where does this leave Congress and the Democrat/Republican standoff?
Michael Hudson: As long as the filibuster is retained, Congress is paralyzed, as each party has the ability to block the other,
and voters are almost equally divided as to whether real estate and financial wealth is to be concentrated in the hands of the One Percent
by the Republicans (representing corporate America)
or the Democrats (representing Wall Street).
With so little difference between them in practice, this leaves law-making to the Supreme Court.
And it has been put in place by right-wing Republicans, with full acquiescence from the Democrats (Senator Biden led the party’s notorious support for Justice Thomas)
That’s why Justice Breyer just announced his retirement from the court today, to give President Biden an opportunity to name the next justice.
His problem is to find a black women sufficiently right-wing <<<<(Token Woken) not to threaten his party’s own Donor Class.
Knowing that in any case, the court is already set on a Republican cultural-political track for the next decade.
Breyer’s hurry reflected his recognition that the Democrats are about to lose heavily in November’s election, so there are only nine months to install a new member of the Court.
The Democratic Leadership insists that the party has already moved too far to the left, despite breaking Biden’s promise to raise the minimum wage, cutting back CARES disbursements from Trump’s $2000 to just $1400, dropping the “social infrastructure” elements of his Build Back Better by being saved by Sens. Manchin and Sinema getting him off the hook so as to back his basic campaign promise that >>>>>>>“Nothing will change very much”
With a policy like that, why should Democrats turn out? What’s he [Old White Joe] done for them lately?
Are they going to believe his rhetoric, or what’s actually happening to the economy and to them?
January 28, 2022 at 12:56 am #99266aspnazParticipant@sumac

A sample
Insurers:“But really insurance is just about numbers and probabilities. And it is here where in truth insurance is about actuaries, not the suited folks who turn up on your doorstep reeking from too much aftershave.
These are people who find math more interesting than sex and are therefore completely weird. But they are very bright, and we need them.
Most importantly, it’s darn tough to come at actuaries with emotional arguments because they’re dead to them. It’s like trying to get your labrador to eat lettuce. Remember, the only thing they’re interested in is the numbers, which is why it’s worth following this sector as it prices risk.
For example, when Al Gore and his climate fanatics promised the world we’d all either have drowned or be living on a boat with Kevin Costner by 2012, I watched insurance premiums on beachfront real estate.
Nothing changed.
Weird, heh?”
“…the quants never repriced any risk on beachfront real estate.”
The Fearporn of climate change did NOT change the underlying actuarial tables, what a shock.
Today: Deaths In 18-64 Year Olds Up 40% Says Indiana life Insurance CEO
“And what we saw just in third quarter, we’re seeing it continue into fourth quarter, is that death rates are up 40% over what they were pre-pandemic,” he said.
“Just to give you an idea of how bad that is, a three-sigma or a one-in-200-year catastrophe would be 10% increase over pre-pandemic,” he said. “So 40% is just unheard of.”
Next up…
Primerica paid $2.1 billion in term life death claims in 2021.
That’s up from $594 million in spending on death claims and other forms of term life benefits in 2020,
and up from $475 million in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic began.
