Let’s consider the possibility that global elites actually do believe the science, if not of global warming, than Dick Cheney’s message that oil is running out, so grab it and prepare for impact.
Computer models of collapse are not reliable, as we can see from what happened in Iraq. What the elite global puppet-master needs is a big enough scale model from which to draw some projections, to help chart the near future fate of all humanity and other surface life forms.
What if financially collapsing the Greek economy is just a test run for the rest of western industrial civilization?

@John Day – A couple years ago, Cyprus was used for test run of bail-ins and capital controls. Greece could be the next test in the financial collapse.
