Aircraft carriers don’t scare people. Aircraft carriers scare governments. Governments, on the other hand, do scare people, and for very good reason. You don’t need to be a PhD historian to know that industrial scale killing is always the work of governments, mostly against their own people (one way or another) and usually by means of building shit like aircraft carriers for fun and profit.

Once a government gets into that as standard operating procedure (i.e. making a living by unnecessarily killing things for delusionally perceived “profit” ) they just ain’t a gonna quit until a whole bunch of people are dead, themselves included if history is any indicator. The key operative word in that statement of fact is the word “unnecessarily”. For better or worse we live in a world in which creatures live by killing. It’s a nasty but necessary requirement of organic life. Do it only when absolutely necessary. Avoid it like the plague in all other cases.

And in particular, beware of those who make a living by “making a killing.” Pun intended.
