Alastair Crooke: How Could Western Intelligence Have Got It Wrong, Again? They Didn’t. They Had Other Purposes Thanks Figmund Sreud.
The logic then is that a war prolonged (until the money runs out) must deliver a Russia bereft of munitions, and NATO-supplied Ukraine ‘wins’.
This framing is entirely wrong because of conceptual differences: Russian history is one of Total War that is fought in a long, ‘all-out’, uncompromising engagement against an overwhelming peer force. But inherent to this idea, is its all-important grounding in the conviction that such wars are fought over the course of years, with their outcomes conditioned by the capacity to surge military production.
Conceptually, the U.S. shifted in the 1980s away from its post-war military-industrial paradigm, to off-shore manufacturing to Asia and to ‘just-in-time’ supply lines. Effectively, the U.S. (and the West) shifted in the opposite direction to ‘surge capacity’, whereas Russia did not: It kept alive the notion of sustainment which had contributed to saving Russia during the Great Patriotic War.
So, western intelligence services again got it wrong; they misread the reality? No, they didn’t get it ‘wrong’. Their purpose was different.
The few who got it right were mercilessly caricatured as stooges to make them seem absurd. And Intelligence 101 was re-conceived as the purposeful denialism of all off-Team thinking, whilst the majority of western citizens would live passively in the embrace the groupthink – until too late for them to awaken, and to change the dangerous course on which their societies were embarked.
Unverified Ukrainian reports (liaison reporting) served up to western leaders therefore is not a ‘glitch’ – it is a ‘feature’ of the new Intelligence 101 paradigm intended to confuse and dull its electorate. How Could Western Intelligence Have Got It Wrong, Again? They Didn’t. They Had Other Purposes
On March 2, 2023, the people in control of the Joe Biden administration officially announced that government control of internet content was now officially a part of the national security apparatus. [White House Link] If you have followed the history of how the Fourth Branch of Government has been created, you will immediately recognize the intent of this new framework…
..In the era shortly after 9/11, the DC national security apparatus, instructed by Vice President Dick Cheney, was constructed to preserve continuity of government and simultaneously view all Americans as potential threats. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) were created specifically for this purpose.
After 9/11/01, the electronic surveillance system that was originally created to monitor threats from abroad was retooled to monitor threats inside our country. That is when all of our electronic ‘metadata’ came under federal surveillance.
That inflection point, and the process that followed, was exactly what Edward Snowden tried to point out.
What Barack Obama and Eric Holder did with that new construct was refine the internal targeting mechanisms so that only their political opposition became the target of this new national security system.
The problems we face now as a country are directly an outcome of two very distinct points that were merged by Barack Obama. (1) The post 9/11 monitoring of electronic communication of American citizens; and (2) Obama’s team creating a fine-tuning knob that it focused on the politics of the targets. This is very important to understand as you dig deeper into this research outline. “Anybody but US/NATO” is who blew up Nordstream.
US Intelligence Now Says Pro-Ukraine, Possibly Government-Trained Mystery Forces Destroyed Nord Stream Pipelines
Now, four weeks after Hersh’s bombshell report, anonymous US intelligence officials tell the NY Times that the saboteurs are likely ‘pro-Ukraine, possibly government-trained Ukrainian or Russian nationals, or some combination of the two,’ but that ‘no American or British nationals were involved.’ Look, it was these 6 people in this rented yacht! It wasn’t the summer 2022 NATO “Baltops” exercise at all. (Whew! What a relief.)
German authorities probing explosions at the Nord Stream gas pipelines have identified a vessel which was reportedly used in the attack on the pipelines. The yacht belongs to a Polish-based company owned by two Ukrainians, according to the reports.
German state broadcaster ARD, SWR radio and Die Zeit newspaper launched what they called their own joint journalistic investigation into the activities of German law enforcement authorities involved in this case.
Their findings indicate the yacht set sail from the German northeastern port city of Rostock on September 6, having received explosives and equipment for the operation from a delivery truck. The yacht was later identified on the Danish island of Christianso, located just north-east of the island of Bornholm, where the pipelines were damaged on September 26, 2022.
The vessel was then returned to the owners, where investigators managed to find traces of explosives on a cabin table, the outlets claim. The sabotage was reportedly carried out by a team of six people, including a captain, two divers, two diving assistants, and a female doctor.

March 8, 2023 at 9:25 pm #130801John DayParticipant This firing of “pro-NATO” military officers in Hungary came about a week after Victoria Nuland paid a friendly visit to Budapest, didn’t it? Was this going to be like the thwarted military coup against Erdogan in Turkey, by NATO-friendly military officers, which Russia warned Erdogan about at the last minute?
The daily news announced that “hundreds of high-ranking military officers sacked in Hungary”. From the article:
Multiple Hungarian media outlets reported that Hungary’s defense minister sacked hundreds of high-ranking military officers. The people concerned have two months to leave and will get 70 percent of their current salaries as a pension-like allowance even if they continue to work. The minister says the move served the rejuvenation and modernisation of the army. The opposition believes the government fired pro-NATO officers.A Massive Global Restructuring is Underway… Here’s What it Means for Europe

March 8, 2023 at 10:01 pm #130804PolemosParticipantD Benton Smith, you write this
I know it involves a lot of extra work, but to be useful your comment and/or praise or criticism of what other writers have written should first quote them verbatim and THEN dismantle their actual words for the foolishness you think them to be.
after you had written this
So, getting back to my apparently unpopular position on Ugo’s article on hydrogen farts: in my deeply considered opinion his article is a just another in an unbroken series of same, a thinly veiled derogatory hit-job on humanity by a condescending high IQ useful idiot OBLIVIOUSLY on the payroll of the Cabal that’s building a case and executing a procedure for the extermination of all humankind. . . which of course includes himself, full stop.
As I commented earlier this morning,
Does Bardi think monkeys are bad, stupid, humiliating, worthless or any kind of negative thing, and can you show this from either that linked article or from any other writing of his?
Or, for that matter, show specifically what you said about him are truths about him? You wrote that you were not going to do any point by point sort of thing, but you are saying he wants people dead, he is an idiot hiding behind arrogance, he is scared shitless, and lumping him in with many others, your They. If you are accurate, the accusations should have evidence from his actual words, not from categorizing a group of people whom you place him into . . .
I wrote this, because I observed you write the following:
Admittedly, this isn’t the first time that I have had to roll my eyes at what Ugo Bardi has written, but this forum is hardly the proper venue for point by point peer review of the rest of his brilliantly written but factually lacking wrong conclusions drawn from massive data. It is enough, in this particular case, to note that his disparagingly intended equation of miraculously refined human beings with “savanna monkeys”, is enough bull shit for one sitting.
I appreciate that you have, in the past, commented approvingly of things I have written, or the way I write, and I also appreciate that you are passionate and zealous towards what guides and motivates you. That fire in your heart is commendable when I see many give themselves over to apathy and the worst forms of indifference. At the same time, fire warps the way we see things, shimmering and singeing and smoking, even blinding us to the longer view if we have only our fire in the darkest nights.
No doubt, you are self-aware and can recognize that you portray two different views here. On the one hand, you want someone else to carefully and meticulously criticize written words and demonstrate relevance and inference. On the other hand, you don’t think you have that responsibility and don’t think this place is appropriate for that kind of activity anyway.
Which hand is the one you wish for me, or anyone else, to most associate with you?

So instead this two legged monkey is worshipping the “sun” as at least it is real, when it shines, unlike everything else. Sadly, clouds too often get in the way.I confess that I do this on sunny winter days by taking a mid-day nap, on a lawn chair, in my fossil fuel built sun cave located in my backyard. It doesn’t matter how windy or cold the winter temperature is outside, the sun’s rays make the inside nice and toasty.
One has to enjoy life’s little pleasures since the world could end tomorrow.
March 9, 2023 at 3:04 am #130816aspnazParticipantI am sure Bardi and his psudonym/alter-ego AFKTT will call me something nasty, nasty, nasty for posting this … https://joannenova.com.au/2023/03/1000-pacific-and-indian-islands-are-not-shrinking-due-to-climate-change/.
March 9, 2023 at 3:08 am #130817D Benton SmithParticipantChemistry tends to attract the materialistic, I suspect because the clockwork precision of the subject is both mesmerizing and reassuring to the those terrified by the implications of free will or the reality of awareness being the source of material instead of the other way around. Perhaps for these reasons it also tends to be the rabbit hole of no return, because the hole has no bottom. Material can never explain or understand or comprehend itself. Not ever. It just gets denser and denser and denser, forever.
March 9, 2023 at 3:32 am #130818D Benton SmithParticipant“No doubt, you are self-aware and can recognize that you portray two different views here. On the one hand, you want someone else to carefully and meticulously criticize written words and demonstrate relevance and inference. On the other hand, you don’t think you have that responsibility and don’t think this place is appropriate for that kind of activity anyway.
Which hand is the one you wish for me, or anyone else, to most associate with you?”First off, that was an impressively conscientious application of the rules of engagement. Your comment was nearly faultless, except for that little part about me breaking my own rules by expressing two different and contradictory views. Nah, it’s just one view, but admittedly it does presume familiarity with Bardi’s broader body of work and associations. Mea culpa, but not very much, because it’s plenty accurate enough for the occasion, and I’m not doing a “straw-man” thing with it like was done to me.
Specifically, his authorship of The Limits To Growth, and his continued association with The Club Of Rome, both of which it is completely fair to say, are oft referenced works in support of the concept that humankind is intrinsically flawed in its very nature and must therefore be repaired or externally restrained in various ways by “better” people who know more than we do about what’s best for us.
I cannot help but speculate what sort of better people they have in mind.
My view is that he is not merely mistaken in that position, but tragically so, and that continuation of that seriously flawed premise will have fatal results for our physical, mental, and spiritual health. I am being specific enough about a positions that he has quite publicly and repeatedly taken.
So is it unfair of me to accuse him of implying a low opinion humans from his comparing the latest model of people to the much older line of “savanna monkeys”? Not at all. That was the intent of his crystal clear metaphor so I’m not mistaken in seeing it that way. I took it the way meant it, which is the suggestion that modern human is a not much improved over the proto-human of 4 million years ago. (and, it’s worth noting, that good ol’ Australopithecus lasted a million years, which ain’t that bad for such a tough neighborhood).
Now, while it is true that we are not individually responsible for the crimes of our brethren, it is also fair to see that we are known by the friends we keep, and the friends of the Club of Rome include some of the smarmiest eugenically inclined elite globalist death-mongers-by proxy this side of the WEF. Correct me if I’m wrong about that, because I would be delighted to be mistaken.
I’m also not saying that Ugo is anything like the worst of them. He’s an academic, a paper pushing professor of physical chemistry for crying out loud. How boring. Writing bullshit about topics outside of his wheelhouse is just his hobby, and since he’s a chemist I can appreciate how he needs some distracting entertainment. On the contrary, I rather suspect that from the vantage of sitting across from him at the well laden elitist dining table he presents as a charming, pleasant and affable guy. What I AM saying is that if he does not support genocide then it’s well past the time that he should quit that club and denounced its membership, because there are a bunch of those yahoos who are NOT nice guys, and they do mean to kill you.
So is he a man of spirit, an acolyte of chaos, or just a well compensated useful idiot? I don’t know, but I know that I’m tired of picking on him just because he wrote some shite as a pastime. No mas. Peace.

Ad hominem every time. “Ad hominem or it shall not pass my lips…” You know I was exaggerating (of course) in saying that. Or meaning to, anyway. Why make it true? Why make me right? You’re better than that and capable of making subject-focused arguments.
“security forces of Airstrip Four would gleefully attack you simply for not wearing a mask that did nothing to protect you from viruses.”
Yes, and note all it required was an excuse. The thinnest premise, a fig leaf that a few minute’s checking would show was false, didn’t work, your covering was transparent. Yet they do it and the beat-ees generally played along.
Following arrest, the totalitarian-fascist-controlled ‘legal system’ will continue the abuse you”
As we just saw with false, erroneous charges, planting evidence, entrapment, and denying exculpatory evidence we even KNOW exists. Yeah, ask the Native Americans about that. Peltier for example. We test all these things on minorities before rolling them out to the rest of you.
What’s the solution? Well apparently the herd has no teeth so they can only respond en masse. The predator’s job is to keep them just one minute away from stampeding and trampling them, and they’ve become quite good at it. How do they know to trample? Communication, the mass-mind and telepathy flocks of birds use, so they need to cut the herd off from each other and cripple their connection to the Knowing All.
What does that mean? It ends when we don’t care WHAT happens. Totally forgotten by today’s paint-on activists is that like Birmingham you’re SUPPOSED to be arrested. Beaten even. That’s the POINT. You’re supposed to OVERFLOW the Birmingham jail then the Alabama State jails, then bankrupt the National Guard trying to keep you from doing the peaceful, normal action of going about your day. That is NOT lighting fires, killing black business owners, etc, and crying for the Whaaaambulance if someone speaks to you, processes you and lets you go in an hour. That would be a failure as it wouldn’t cost the State enough money to make your point.
Somehow that’s all forgotten though.
SaltoftheEarth
Rome didn’t fall? Rome as a city and center dropped from +1M to possibly 10,000 citizens, pasturing sheep in the pillared, rocky ruins. That’s a pretty classic civilizational “fall” if that’s how you want to term it. (possibly “dispersion” like Devolution, is a less pejorative term?)
““Malthus was wrong” No, his timing was just off.”
Seriously? Wrong on that bet every year, 200 years in a row, every modern computer model is proven just as faulty, and you want to go for Red Seven on the Roulette Wheel for the whole stake? Okay man. I’ll take your money, but it’ll ruin the rest of your life. That’s basically JB’s argument to AFKTT: this isn’t SERVING you. It doesn’t WORK. It’s failed all of the last 50 years. But THIS TIME, only TOMORROW, I’ll win double-sevens and show you all! Man, is that the line of a chronic addict or what?
He COULD be right. Red Seven WILL come up one day. People sure thought so in Napoleon, in WWI and WWII, and it sure felt like it, but nope. Not a thing. Barely a half-step back. Humans are too clever and strong.
Their Models never saw it coming. Bang! Right between the eyes! They were wrongeddy wrong-wrong and will be wrong this time too.“when will xenophobic criticism of China/Chinese be declared off limits”
Depends if it’s xenophobic. Do we say ALL Chinese worldwide, wherever they may live? At birth, as a function of their genome? Or do we mean the CCP as presently constructed? I can force myself to be more specific and say “CCP” instead of “China” all the time, but it’s tiresome.
Leon: I don’t know if you’re a long lurker but the format is Raul posts the (used to be peak oil and finance) news of the day. Now it’s geopolitics. That was 20 years ago when you could quote WSJ to contrast the NYT. Now all Western Media is beyond repair and 99% in the same direction, united in their lies. Which are quite illogical and idiotic, no trouble at all to see how false is HAS to be. Russia blew up their OWN $6B pipeline? Rather than turn their own valve? Unless you want to transform the format and close the site what are you going to do? Quote transparently false liars all day? We’ve always quoted outside sources, only trying to keep to “authority” sources because it’s more amusing to roast them in their own
juiceswords. But we’re at a point where nothing anyone in the West says is true, and is also easily provable. What are we left with? I don’t read Chinese (oops, I mean CCP) or Thai or Japanese, nor Hausa, Yoruba, or Igbo, so that leaves the Non-West. RT, al-Jazeera, etc. Call the NY Times and Guardian and complain to them, they’re the ones who’ve become un-quotable, even to a word. And yeah, I don’t like it either.
“witch hunting had a strong monetary component” “ignored by historians.” Yes, exactly my point with Zinn and others. EVERYTHING THEY SAY IS FALSE. If they weren’t blinded by their
paradigmreligion, first Christian, then Pro-West, now Pro-Socialist/Kill West, they would realize it. The number of witches was TOTALLY FABRICATED by Feminists in the 70’s. We didn’t get around to double-checking that until just recently. They just MADE IT UP to serve their point that all men are evil, muh Patriarchy. The end justifies the means, right? Doesn’t cause problems in families, stress between men and women now having divergent paradigms that lead to divorce, poverty, anger, and despair. Ruining, as we know, the lives of all their children? Millions of them? Yeah, Feminism did that. Or their constant lack of morals with “the end justifies the means.” Don’t do it.And both the fact of witches, the reason for witches, and the number are ALL LIES. Just another lie, lie after lie in history. So…why would someone tell a lie about something as dry as history since the only place they would ever get the facts to textbook up is from the original records? ALL FOR THEIR AGENDA. That they know you would never say yes to if they told the truth. That is, raw, poisonous VIOLENCE.
To be helpful today, the other witch thing was really a purge of the Cathars. The Pope and Catholic Church, who by their actions are “Not Christians,” had been getting too evil and people were edging away from them. The wanted to consolidate power in Europe against a more grass-roots, self-directed alternative, so they murdered every Cathar they could find. Just normal, political power n money stuff, all lied about by calling it religious. Later that backfired and re-appeared in Protestantism, which was not put down, but put the Church down as we see today. Today they hate (other) religion with the heat of a thousand suns and lie and pretend it was religious, or a Pope (Borgias) who lived in an orgy-filled palace with three wives was “Christian-y”, totally pious, a true believer. LIE!
“This genocidal war crime appears to have been actively facilitated at the highest levels”
Yes, and what if that’s not just to keep the money they stole, but because we’re about to have a world catastrophe, an asteroid or Ice Age? Isn’t that really a moral…good? Aren’t I doing God’s work by killing these 6 Billion in their beds, children and infants included? Side of the Angels, I say. ..And all you would have to do is LIE, pay scientists to invent such a premise, then say “go forth! Kill widely.”
“U.S. Dept of Energy Grid” proves that they are on board and know. They KNOW this has to happen, yet not a pencil has moved to make it so? When the whole country would collapse otherwise? Huh. ...Unless some miracle happened and 1/3 of the population died instead, and the rest were locked down and couldn’t move 15 minutes. They. Know.
“tv news is telling me tucker hates trump.”
Weird part is, the Right is not in a cult (mostly), so they don’t care. Please, PLEASE keep not knowing anything about the Right, projecting, making everything up, and keep using these tactics. Never stop. When they say he hates Trump (which is also a bit of an exaggeration) I say, “Yay!” Doesn’t bother me a bit.
“Is it possible to thread comments?” It was but I don’t see it now. Scarcely matters as that feature was always broken and inoperable for years. Tests above prove it again.

“In our society, an insane society, we deployed an experimental therapeutic on the whole population, in an effort to stop people from dying. It’s not a vaccine, at best it is a failed attempt at a vaccine. It seems to reduce severe disease by inducing tolerance, prohibiting the immune system from overreacting to a novel virus. Whether that happened by accident or was always the intention is unclear to me, but the price you pay is the birth of a demographic that constantly spreads this virus.”
