Day – yep, that conversation with a Republican I recounted yesterday was real. Really happened.
I also talked with him about Ukraine – he could not get to grips with the US having overthrown the government there.
I pointed out – I heard the leaked recording of the overthrow being planned, who they were going to put into power etc from our own Asst Secretary of State — and then watched the State Department PRESS CONFERENCE in which they admitted the recording was real – to do damage control on the “Fuck the EU” comment! THEY told us on nationwide TV!!!!
If you START from understanding the government was overthrown and then had picked people put in – many not ukrainian nationals or dual-nationality, and then you look at the Minsk treaties, and then look at what else has gone on there for years….
He asked “But why can’t Ukraine just be a country, existing there, maybe with a treaty with guarantors…”
That was Minsk. The “guarantors” were the ones plotting all along to overthrow the government, take over the country, arm it, egg it on (well, they’re in control, no egging needed) into military hostility… Are there new “guarantors” you have found on Mars or Venus or something? …because there aren’t any trustworthy ones here on Earth.
I explained that war is ultimately what enforces treaties. You break treaties, end up in a war, cry me a river. Stop complaining and figure out how to keep agreements if you want the war to end or not happen.
But start your understanding of the Ukraine war at least from what the US State Dept confirmed they did to the country. There is no “supporting Ukraine” because that just means “I support the US State Dept against Ukraine:

I’d love to have the luxury of past decades – vote for a candidate based on one or a few specific policies in their platform, but we’re down to, is there going to be free speech in the country at all or not.
Let’s say all a Trump win does is slow down the ending of free speech – well, that leaves a window partially open for SOME public discussion of whatever policy one is concerned about.

We can’t see private discussions and negotiations between power and financial elite factions, which I presume to be long-underway, with an eye to improving the real-world economies of the US, EU, NATO, etc. and coordinating the inevitable financial reset, to deal with the vast divergence between real and notional/financial economic figures. These must be harmonized going forward, and something like 50% to 75% of “notional wealth” needs to be eliminated for these books to reflect the same underlying reality. Factual accounting is necessary to restore trust in the systems of production, commerce, and trade, which support our lives.
In recent decades there has been broadening divergence, “fraud”, between real and notional economies, which has been criminal and quasi-criminal. Those criminal-perpetrators are in control of government and finance, and are incapable of repairing the damage they have done and facilitated, so somebody else has to take the reins, but that puts them in too much personal danger for them to allow it.
This has happened before. It can go down with lots of killing, or little-to-no killing. I can’t see the negotiations, just some smoke. A Yemeni hypersonic ballistic missile struck an Israeli military target in occupied Yafa (Tel Aviv), on Tuesday, the spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) Brigadier General Yahya Saree announced.

Twenty-seven states have “taxpayer burdens,” meaning their budget is not balanced and they would need to collect at least $900 from every person in the state to eliminate their debt. Massachusetts, Illinois, New Jersey and Connecticut received a letter grade of “F” because they would need over $25,000 from every resident to pay their bills.Only 23 states had what Truth in Accounting calls a “taxpayer surplus,” meaning they could pay off all of their debt and still have money to return to taxpayers. Four states received a letter grade of “A” because they have a taxpayer surplus above $10,000: North Dakota, Alaska, Wyoming and Utah.
Unfunded pension liabilities contributed $840 billion to the debt. States have promised to eventually pay pensions to teachers, firefighters, cops and more, but have only saved up 70% of the necessary cash.
Other post-retirement benefits are underfunded by $493 billion. They mostly consist of lifetime healthcare plans, for which states have saved up only 14% of the money they’ve promised to current employees.
Researchers wrote that “Unfortunately, some elected officials have used portions of the money owed to pension and OPEB funds to keep taxes low and pay for politically popular programs. This is similar to charging earned benefits to a credit card without having the money to pay off the debt.”
Underreporting pension liabilities is just one “accounting trick” politicians use to falsely claim their budgets are balanced, according to Truth in Accounting. Some states also overstate their revenue, count borrowed money as income, and more.
