23 October 202October 23, 2024 at 11:58 pm #172327jb-hbParticipantThis is the dilemma of the 2020’s, isn’t it?
Discovering and facing up to what are mere differences of opinion, imperfections vs recognizing implacable enmity. I’m trying hard to master both.
20-teens were disturbing, annoying, fun epic trolling and meming, clown world etc
2020’s are more like suddenly realizing holy shit you really ARE at war, you really DO hate me, you really ARE implacable, you were not being figurative, we WEREN’T all disagreeing, shitposting, joking, arguing, in a live-and-let-live, work it all out together context.
Like with the Climate Meltdown stuff, they aren’t LARPing. They want 7+ billion less humans. They’re tearing down factories and power generation, outlawing things with no plans on what to do without them, lying prodigiously for the greater cause, etc. Wishing for democide while somehow not connecting the dots to themselves. Yeah I am lying to you about how we are doomed, but I have to because we are doomed.
Or even just Bud Lite having a very simple, easy to resolve glitch in their messaging. Only to reveal that’s the hill they want to die on. They really DO hate you. Like Gillette doubling down. Etc. No joke.
Just got done with orientation for the new job today.
HR came onto the Zoom for a couple hours extolling how they are going to get to 50% women leadership and 50% increase diversity this year with a 50% increase next year. They went on and on “celebrating” how they would advance “diverse” people and it was everyone BUT someone but my immutable characteristics.
That, of course, is not inclusion, it is highly selective exclusion. Since I hold collective guilt with an evil blob somewhere, it’s only right that I be singled out, me, specifically me, as punishment for my collective nature. (privileged, dominating all, extracting all resources, etc etc etc) Looking around at my mismatched fibreboard Target/Walmart furniture, you would think I would do better as one of the Masters Of The Universe, maybe give myself a solid gold toilet seat and bathtub. But no, being the obstinate evil person I am, I insist on formaldehyde-soaked IKEA items. But that’s JUST the kind of underhanded trick a Master Of The Universe like me would pull!
For me, this is fine. I have a job. My job is to survive.
But for the younger men in the Zoom, my heart sank. No advancement for you. No home buying. No household formation. No wife, maybe a “wife” roommate. No children.
Where have all the good men gone? Women, the thing you must understand is that you cost money. So that good man you want, with more of the taxes and inflation you voted for – in your extreme virtue – means Good Man is going to need to work more overtime and cannot be anywhere you are during that time. He’s going to have to work and save longer to get where he needs to be to become an eligible bachelor.
That’s the response to his complaints about your political/social choices, right? Man up, find a way, grind harder — so he’s not available right now. Leave a msg. Sorry. Busy grinding. He knows he will not be considered eligible until he has and earns MORE than you – hopefully he can catch up, pass you, and get a date with you before – horrified at the inequity you require – you vote to even things up again and begin waiting for those good men again.
You can see the stony look on the young mens’ faces, being careful NOT to comment, NOT to make a face — I guarantee if I spoke up and said “So, HR lady, basically what you’re saying is… NOT ME, amirite?” I would be remembered as deplorable FOREVER in that company, maybe lose my job right there. Totally completely outside the overton window.
Like, we WANT you to die penniless of exposure in a gutter. Speaking up will hasten that. In the meantime, be a lowest-caste drone that does NOT form new households. We’ll figure out a notavax requirement for you or just turn up the offensiveness of our HR trainings until hopefully you snap. What was your pronoun again?
We’re going to iNcReAsE tEh dIvErSiTy 50% EVERY YEAR. How do we put this? You’re going to exist less every year?
It’s not some jobless hippie high on acid spouting this stuff as an opinion. They are deadly serious.
I just cannot figure out if they’ve lost touch with reality – they think they can do their LARP to the hilt because there’s nothing ELSE but LARPing? It’s not really real so I can do ANYTHING? Head in the clouds forever? Or they really want THIS in hard reality, having considered ALL the real things they could have tried for, THIS is the best? Until they run into an obstacle, it makes no difference. Slow-motion eugenics.
If this is really how it is at this employer, I will quiet-quit and take what I need to survive. Placing sub-par people in charge of things (and in charge of better people) will do more damage than my diminished loyalty. Make someone else a process manager so they can propagate just one stupid, badly-designed policy over 500,000 customer interactions a year, making the company’s internal gears grind wastefully or self-destructively, pissing off customers to the point they leave, then don’t measure it. Have them write more policies. Can’t fix old ones for fear of offending them as not good enough (they aren’t)
But anyway, there are REAL things happening. If someone tried to take your children from you, you’d barricade the house, fight them tooth and nail. But they can stop them from ever existing, can’t they?
There IS a kind of mercilessness to the people on the other side of this. A kind of total callousness. To treat these deadly serious real world destroyers as “only” …anything? Of pretending it’s still a football game we spout consequence-free opinions over.
In that sense, I can sympathize with Citizenx’s extreme reaction. Like, why concede ANY of the other side’s LARP? When I know you are already BETTER than that? I’m just saying I understand.
This seems to be a phobia with – I am guessing – the Boomers here. We let the other side have their LARP, we agree to express our differing positions in idealistic terms. We tacitly agree we live inside a symbolic, idealistic, consequence free, HIGHLY moralistic yet staunchly unmoored from specific right and wrong definitions. The phobia is calling a spade a spade, saying someone is objectively morally wrong, and ANY notion of someone doing so exercising ANY power. It is understandable for anyone who is in the leftist, deconstructionist, postmodernist set to exercise power but the notion of someone taking the other side, exercising real agency, even verbally or in text garners a kind of shock, horror, and revulsion.
We give a RELATIVELY mild reaction to leftist postmodernists expressing ideas with genocidal outcomes in the most absolutely extreme (supposedly) moralistic ways and THEN disapprove of anyone expressing scorn or outrage. Why the two tier system? How many people for how long were totally content to have AFKTT spout anti civilization, anti human, anti life messages WHILE totally underhanded and disingenuous ….but found spade-calling more offensive THAN THAT?
Hissing in your children’s ear through every avenue available they should never have been born and Are The Disease, a sin against The Planet for instance – vs naming that evil and naming the kind of underhanded sick “argument” that supports it.
Like, even the simplest things to identify – why Kamela can talk about Tiki Torch Wielding Nazi KKK’ers in 2024 when it has been public knowledge these were Democrat operatives posing as MAGA — and in the act of secretly posing as Nazi thugs, surely, having exactly the EFFECT OF Nazi thugs? Exactly the fear, intimidation, that would be WRONG to exert on behalf of evil? Not a peep. No objections by the opposite side of the debate. Did it even make it onto anyone’s fact-check list?
WHAT on earth is it? Do we imagine that fighting back appropriately – word for word, text for text, ANYTHING AT ALL is sure to instantly degenerate into 1930’s/40’s Germany?

If you took a wee bit of time to read what they have in store for you, the cattle, you’d come out swinging, fighting for life…instead of shoving jewfrankenfood in your fat fuckin face, starin at a tv and soaking up propaganda.. How the media mess with your heads to try and get you to sympathise with the Israeli monsters.
October 24, 2024 at 2:01 am #172331Doc RobinsonParticipant“How the media mess with your heads to try and get you to sympathise with the Israeli monsters.”
An older article (2006) from the same author Jonathan Cook makes history’s rhymes sound repetitious:
“And what would they say if I claimed that this war is not really about Lebanon, or even Hizbullah, but part of a wider US and Israeli campaign to isolate and preemptively attack Iran?”How would Homeland Security judge me if I stepped off a plane in the US tomorrow and told officials not only that I am appalled by the humanitarian crises in Lebanon and Gaza but also that I do not believe the war on terror should be directed against either the Lebanese or the Palestinians? How would they respond if, further, I described as nonsense the idea that Hizbullah or the political leaders of Hamas are “terrorists”?
I have my reasons, good ones I think, but would anyone take them seriously? What would the officials make of my argument that, before Israel’s war on Lebanon, no one could point to a single terrorist incident Hizbullah had been responsible for in at least a decade? Would the authorities appreciate my comment that a terrorist organization that doesn’t do terrorism is a chimera, a figment of the President’s imagination?
Equally, what would they make of my belief that Hizbullah does not want to wipe Israel off the map? Would they find me convincing if I told them that Israel, not Hizbullah, is the aggressor in the conflict: that following Israel’s supposed withdrawal from south Lebanon in 2000, Lebanon experienced barely a day of peace from the terrifying sonic booms of Israeli war planes violating the country’s airspace?
Would they understand as I explained that Hizbullah had acted with restraint for those six years, stockpiling its weapons for the day it knew was coming when Israel would no longer be satisfied with overflights and its appetite for conquest and subjugation would return? Would the officials doubt their own assumptions as I told them that during this war Hizbullah’s rockets have been a response to Israeli provocations, that they are fired in return for Israel’s devastating and indiscriminate bombardment of Lebanon?
And what would they say if I claimed that this war is not really about Lebanon, or even Hizbullah, but part of a wider US and Israeli campaign to isolate and preemptively attack Iran?
October 24, 2024 at 3:06 am #172332John DayParticipant@Mr. House: The “choices” to which I referred were more general than election-choices, which are a national opinion-poll by original design, at best. ;-(
All I meant was that if one decides not to become the Evil which one contests against, then that constrains one’s choices of action a lot, eliminating a lot of the punji-trap choices…We do not change things by voting, but declare our opinions to the owners, and the politicians whose job it is to deliver us to their will.
