Kursk 2.0 update
Essentially no change for what, week and a half, 2 weeks?
Headline today: Russia repels 8 attacks in the Kursk region.
The Ukraine war reminds me a LOT of WW1. “The Battle of _____” can last for MONTHS or even YEARS when virtually any other war has battles start and end in the span of days.
The Myth of the Great War: A New Military History of World War I – John Mosier – is still my favorite WW1 book. He gets flack from other authors and readers for abandoning a clinical modern historical approach, but I really enjoy his GenX sarcastic scorn. Seriously? Throwing men against this ONE hill over and over for 18 MONTHS and you call it The Battle Of _____? You agree to do your big attack and call it off in 4 days if there are no successes, but then keep the meat grinder going to no avail for 4 months? I honestly LOVE that there is some character and tone to the narrative. Who are these idiots who report total military idiocy like historical temperature readings?
EIGHT attacks in the Kursk salient being warded off. wtf. Months into this “Battle” and they aren’t giving up. Keep the meat grinder going. Ukraine can still project force into the Kursk salient.
It’s a bit mysterious because we don’t really know what is going on – has NATO found the secret sauce to improve their attrition ratio? Do they therefore regard Kursk as a continuing success? Why else would they keep it going? But in Mosier’s book, some generals, to show their proper attitude, would consider it a best practice to keep attacking until you have no more men to attack with. To show your manly, offensive spirit.
More chunks being bit off the northwestern part of the Kursk salient. Ukraine really, REALLY isn’t going to reach Koronevo. Clashes at both east and west sides at the base of the salient. Hard to tell if Urkaine is trying to widen it or Russia is trying to pinch it off. Not a lot moving there for weeks now.
Chasov Yar maps have been absent for weeks. I take it as a sign that there are no positive developments for Russia – that’s usually what it is when there are no map updates on southfront.
Various other Russian nibblings all along the front. Little successes. Grignotage as the French would say. “I gnaw you.”
I see no good news for the Ukrainian side in the past couple weeks.
That strategic map never changes though

I have a lot of tabs lined up, which may reflect the general tension in our world, with so many aspects of hierarchical power under obvious strain, preparatory to snapping suddenly at some point. The US elections are a focal point of this, with much last-stand tribalism being pumped into us, though I think it’s all words and group-identity, for the most part.
My perception is that power elites in the east and south have had negotiations at the BRICS summit, which continue, and that the globalists in the west are not going to obtain their techno-dystopia dreams of having us all wired into compliance in their 15 minute cities, mainly because this requires more resources and energy than can possibly be applied to the task. There are other reasons, but impossibility is easier to address.
In a world where peak-oil-plus-liquids happened in late 2018, and that is 90% correlated with real-economy, we will not be able to support layers of global hierarchy, which primarily serve maintenance of the hierarchy, and are badly inefficient at supporting human populations.
The human-self-support is the most resource and energy efficient, but is also subject to catastrophic local failures, as in western North Carolina. The hierarchy, however, actually made that problem worse, which is becoming a lesson of sorts.
Personally, I think the negotiations for a “mostly peaceful” elite power-transition, at least in the US, are well in progress, though still subject to failure. Trump has openly communicated that he won’t go after Hunter Biden, and already didn’t go after Hillary Clinton, so existential fears may be eased for current elites…
We’ll see. If the votes are counted in favor of Trump/Vance, then the deal was done. Trying to call the rig for Harris looks untenable now, so it wouldn’t go well. Most police/military/national-guard forces are aware of what is going on. They would choose sides, maybe not all the same side, but there is no appetite for civil war.(Doomporn-clickbait?) The so-called “Clinton body count”, the list of mysterious deaths in the Clintons’ circle, is described as a conspiracy theory. However, it is worth taking a closer look because there are indications that the US Democrats are planning to take action against the Trump movement after the US election.
There is even a long Wikipedia article in German about the so-called “Clinton body count”, the list of mysterious deaths in the Clinton family circle , in which we learn that these are just conspiracy theories. However, Wikipedia lists more than 15 mysterious deaths, including many suicides by gunshot wounds, in the Clinton family circle, and one can hardly deny that it is very strange when so many people connected to a highly controversial family die under mysterious circumstances. https://anti–spiegel-ru.translate.goog/2024/was-die-liste-der-mysterioesen-todesfaelle-im-umfeld-der-clintons-mit-der-us-wahl-zu-tun-hat/?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=de&_x_tr_pto=wappTariffs are a tax on imported good, paid as a higher price, a sales tax of sorts, though different good can be targeted. European Union’s eventual collapse is a certainty – it has been for a very long time. It’s been rigged for demolition through its financial architecture which institutionalizes a system of governance that’s typical of all historical eras where moneylending oligarchies gained the control of the political system. The predictable result of all this is that European economies are floundering: their entrepreneurial dynamism and competitiveness is being systematically suffocated and slowly consumed by the parasitic leech hidden behind the EU bureaucratic institutions. For the ordinary people and businesses, this system is driving a steady, inexorable descent into poverty…
..One of the main components of Europe’s pathological financial architecture is the European Stability Mechanism (ESM): Eurozone’s permanent bailout fund. The ESM is not exactly a household name, but you can really think of it as a monstrous vampire leech attached to Europe’s economy.
The treaty establishing the ESM is an astonishing legal concoction which established a limitless, institutional conveyor belt of bailout funds from the European taxpayer, ultimately to the banking cartel. ESM’s capital was supposedly limited to €500 million (in some documents it says €700 million), but the Treaty sets no limits on the obligations imposed on European taxpayers, no room for negotiation, no legal recourse.
As drafted, the ESM Treaty was a violation of the EU Treaty (Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union) as well as constitutions and/or laws of EU member states as it restricts each member nation’s fiscal sovereignty. Ratifying it necessitated a dismayingly convoluted process of amending the EU treaty and circumventing member states’ domestic laws.
It came to an initial vote in January 2012 when it was passed without barely a mention in the press. The ESM became operational in October 2012 even though it was never fully ratified by all member states...
..ESM officers may not be held accountable at law, nor can their decisions be challenged. Member nations must guarantee such funds, but they can’t challenge ESM’s decisions. Article 9 may well be titled, “Stand and deliver,” and articles 30 and 32 amount what Nicholas Rockefeller arrogantly called the bankers’ KMA card (KMA = kiss my ass): we can do what we want and there is no agency of government that can limit our power, investigate our actions or hold us to account in any way whatsoever. If we gamble and win, the gains are ours. If we lose, all you debt serfs and tax donkeys must make us whole. https://alexkrainer.substack.com/p/eu-living-in-the-bankstas-paradise Simplicius, Zelensky Begs Grid-Strike Trade as ‘Dark Winter’ Looms
The most interesting Ukrainian news of the past week was Zelensky’s sudden floating of a ‘compromise’ wherein both Russia and Ukraine would stop attacking each other’s energy grids… It seems to reveal the actual true purpose behind Ukraine’s campaign of the past year or so of striking Russian oil refineries, etc. Rather than aimed at actually crippling Russia’s infrastructure—an unrealistic proposal—it seems the whole time to have been aimed at desperately stopping Russia from crippling Ukraine’s infrastructure and plunging the country into the stone age, as many have expected to happen this coming winter...
..In the aftermath of the BRICS summit, Putin gave a short interview wherein he restated Russia’s current position on negotiations, with a noteworthy detail… First, he states that Russia is ready to negotiate based on current realities. Translation: this means the currently controlled territories are non-negotiable. Putin reaffirms this by again openly stating that on this particular issue there will be no concessions made nor any “exchanges”. The exchanges is clearly in reference to Zelensky’s previously-voiced plan to “exchange” the Kursk territories for Russian-controlled territories in the Donbass.
However, Putin then goes on to surprisingly say he’s open to some “reasonable” compromises—but what could those possibly be? …
..According to them, Putin will offer Trump a ‘softer’ negotiating position in order for Trump to save face and be able to stop the war on slightly more favorable conditions, while Kamala would be offered what sounds mostly like the Istanbul deal.
In both cases the non-negotiables appear to be that: Russia keeps all four new regions—Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporozhye, Kherson. But there is potentially flexibility on how deep the demilitarization goes and how big the “buffer zone” on the northern border would be...
..May 31 exchange: 45 Russian bodies vs. 212 Ukrainian bodies.
June 14 exchange: 32 Russian bodies vs. 254 Ukrainian bodies.
August 4 exchange: 38 Russian bodies vs. 250 Ukrainian bodies.
October 18 exchange: 89 Russian bodies vs. 501 Ukrainian bodies.
This now totals 204 vs. 1217 in Russia’s favor. That makes a ratio of 1:5.9 or about 1 Russian loss for every 6 Ukrainian losses. That is very close to the ratio previously given by Putin…
..Meanwhile German TV again says Ukraine cannot be allowed to lose because of the vast riches of minerals it possesses…
..An interesting news story that claims BlackRock is buying up Moldovan land… Unfortunately no details are given. It’s said on the heels of the election there, Maia Sandu will feel emboldened to begin provocations against Russia and Transnistria as per the bidding of her masters. https://simplicius76.substack.com/p/sitrep-102624-zelensky-begs-grid Bankers need a deadly external enemy for when the financial collapse arrives. Since the previous Tory government introduced a windfall profit tax on the energy industry back in 2022, oil and gas output from the North Sea has declined by 10%.

Survivors of the ongoing Israeli extermination campaign in north Gaza describe how the Israeli army is separating mothers from children before forcing them south, executing civilians in ditches, and directly targeting hospitals and medical staff.
On Thursday night, the Gaza Civil Defense announced that a massive Israeli airstrike targeting a residential area on al-Hawaja street in the northern Gaza town of Jabalia killed over 150 people.
“A horrific massacre is taking place in al-Hawaja street in block 7 in Jabalia,” the Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal said in a statement posted to Telegram. “There is no one here to save them.”
The Israeli army claimed the massive attack was targeting a Hamas commander allegedly responsible for the October 7 attack last year.
On October 5, the Israeli army stormed the northern Gaza Strip, an area that includes Jabalia, Jabalia refugee camp, Beit Lahia, the Tawam area, Attatrah, and the Saftawi area.
The ongoing campaign is an implementation of the so-called “Generals’ Plan,” named after a proposal by a group of senior Israeli military officials, based on an earlier proposal by retired Israeli general Giora Eiland, which aims to empty the north of Gaza through starvation and bombardment. According to the plan, those who remain in northern Gaza are to be considered enemy combatants and subsequently eliminated. https://mondoweiss.net/2024/10/survivors-of-north-gaza-invasion-report-israeli-extermination-campaign/‘The Entire Population of North Gaza Is at Risk of Dying’: UN Relief Official “Such blatant disregard for basic humanity and for the laws of war must stop,” the official said. And what does it mean?
First, note that the Israeli attack on targets in and near Teheran was made by air to ground missiles. This is an entirely different type of attack from what Israel has been doing in Gaza, in Lebanon, in Syria. In those fronts the Israelis are primarily using their jets to drop bombs over or from near their targets, including the multi-ton highly destructive glide bombs that the United States has shipped to Israel in lavish quantities because of their destructive power and lethality.
We do not know the nature of the Israeli attack on two provinces of Iran close to the Iraqi border. No video images from there have been published. Perhaps the Israelis crossed the border into Iran, perhaps not. But they clearly hit the Teheran area from missiles fired at a great distance and the reason should be fairly obvious: because the Iranian air defense is robust and has been further strengthened in recent months by installation of Russia’s advanced S400 ground to air missiles...
..What do I hear and read in ‘unofficial’ internet sources, mostly Russia-based, that bears on the question at hand? It is that Russia provided to Teheran advance warning of the impending Israeli attack coming from its own technical means of intelligence gathering, presumably meaning satellites and/or AWACS. If this is true, then it demonstrates that Russia will provide effective and highly useful assistance to Iran as the conflict with Israel evolves, even though no binding mutual defense treaty has been signed, let alone ratified. The lack of a treaty in place is simply to prevent Iran from abusing a blank check and behaving irresponsibly...
..We may assume that Russia will be rushing in replacement missiles for those of its S400 expended in resisting the Israeli attack, or where needed to replace damaged Iranian air defense locations. Thus, Tel Aviv will be given pause when planning any deep incursions to stage bombing raids. https://gilbertdoctorow.com/2024/10/27/the-israeli-attack-on-iran-what-do-we-know-and-what-does-it-mean/ “Skynet?” $142 million AI drone warfare contract from ‘Project Maven’ was silently erased from public record

Internal reports show hundreds of Canadians chose to be euthanized because of poverty and loneliness
Internal reports have revealed that an increasing number of people in Ontario seek “Medical Assistance in Dying” (MAiD) due to poverty and isolation rather than illness.
In 2016, Canada introduced MAiD, initially intended for terminally ill patients. However, in 2021, the federal government expanded the program, allowing chronically ill individuals, who are not at risk of imminent death, to seek euthanasia. This expansion has led to a rise in requests from individuals whose suffering may stem more from financial hardship and social isolation than from medical conditions alone. (Related: Disabled Canadian man reveals he’s been offered EUTHANASIA multiple times by hospital staff.)
According to information published on Oct. 16 by the Associated Press, these non-terminal patients seeking MAiD come from impoverished communities in Ontario where access to adequate housing, social support and financial aid might have mitigated their distress.
One doctor recounted the case of a middle-aged man suffering from chronic injuries who sought euthanasia after the government support payments he received were reduced, leaving him trapped in poverty and without any other options.
In another case, a man suffering from a serious lung disease requested euthanasia largely because he was homeless and in debt, unable to face the prospect of long-term care. Despite initial hesitation, the doctor eventually agreed to the request. https://www.naturalnews.com/2024-10-25-canadians-choosing-euthanasia-due-to-poverty-loneliness.htmlOctober 27, 2024 at 10:41 pm #172733Maxwell QuestParticipantI’ve never seen Dr D as controlled opposition. He’s a prolific writer to be sure, and often exaggerates an idea to make his point, but it’s done humorously with good intent. His detractors might nit-pick, but will find it hard to argue against his core ideas. He can operate at the 30,000 ft level, and in the next sentence give on-the-ground data to support his high-level synthesis. Both are critical for a better understanding of world events (plans to which we are not privy).
In my 40’s I began drifting away from having emotionality take the lead, and started living a more principle-based life. Honesty, integrity, fairness, the golden rule, etc. Once I got a handle on this, the next step was to look around and evaluate how well my own culture followed these same principles. What a shock to discover that most people are not very concerned with principles, but rather with personal benefit and comfort. With tribalism. With sexism. They will preach love, compassion, and tolerance, only to express in the very next thought how disappointing it was that the assassin’s bullet was an inch off the mark.
I guess that is why I enjoy reading Dr D so much. He has a knack for pointing out… frankly all the insanity we see around us – pointing out the dark, while gently steering us toward the light. I don’t see any other motives in his writings, and consider it a service he provides. A labor of love, if you would.
I’m 71 now, and consider every minute of my time precious. As my sister would say, “we’re playing the back nine now, and I can see the clubhouse.” I’m very careful about where and how I spent my energy and time, but I consider reading TAE and Dr D (and others) each day time well spent.
FWIW, I was initially going to share some of my experiences with corporate bureaucracy, but I think the above thoughts take precedence right now.

The Battle of the Somme continued for 4 months, and per Wikipedia “More than three million men fought in the battle, of whom more than one million were either wounded or killed, making it one of the deadliest battles in all of human history.”
Sacco’s black-and-white depiction of one of the deadliest and most infamous battles of the First World War is overwhelming and wondrous, much vaster than you can take in at one glance. It moves from left to right, chronologically, but also travels from behind the lines to the front-line fighting, then back to the rear again. He focuses on thousands of British troops, beginning with a general strolling the grounds of a mansion. A convoy of horse-drawn supply wagons trots forward. Soldiers queue up for chow. Troops march to the front. Howitzers blast at the Germans. A maze of trenches overflows with infantry. …
“My first thought was, ‘I don’t want to draw another war scene.’” He adds, “I decided to depict the first day of the Battle of the Somme because that is the point where the common man could have no more illusions about the nature of modern warfare.”…
The Germans suffered some 8,000 casualties [that day] while, Historian Adam Hochschild writes in the pamphlet’s introduction, “some 21,000 British soldiers [were] killed or fatally wounded on the day of greatest bloodshed in the history of their country’s military, before or since.”
