Amusing development in Z-land; turns out drug dealing gangs do not let lockdowns get in the way of their lifestyle. Who knew?
Mr Hipkins has confirmed patched gang members are among the current cluster of cases, without confirming precise numbers.
The Mongrel Mob disputes this, with the group’s Waikato spokeswoman Louise Hutchinson telling Radio NZ they are being used as a scapegoat.
“This has become politically motivated,” she said, insisting all gang cases were historical.
“We’ve had every member tested and every member of their whanau (family) tested.”
Gangs in New Zealand are often linked with methamphetamine distribution and use.
Newshub reports members of the tight-knit community of Kawhia, which reported a new COVID-19 case on Wednesday, believe the virus has spread into their town from a gang member selling the drug – something the gang disputes.
At the same time, the government has approved travel exemptions into locked-down Auckland for two gang leaders to help further vaccination efforts.
Associate Health Minister Peeni Henare said the government was “engaged with the gang leadership to make sure that we can support vaccination rollout, testing and adhering to the rules”.
NZ is rife with ethnic based criminal gangs, the “Mongrel Mob” being the largest. The NZ police have treated the gangs with kid gloves thruout the crisis, deliberately avoiding confrontation even when members openly flout lockdown mandates.
So people are wondering now; have the gangs have been dealing meth to customers all over NZ from the start of the lockdowns?
Hard to believe they sat on their hands and just used their savings all these months.October 7, 2021 at 9:50 am #89389V. ArnoldParticipantGerm

October 7, 2021 at 10:26 am #89392Dr. DParticipant“I think that in retrospect, the decision to lock down entire societies to stop the coronavirus will end up in the history books as one of the most spectacular blunders ever committed by a ruling class. Partly, of course, the lockdowns didn’t work.” — J Greer
Gee, sounds like the doctor. Although I do have to eat crow on how MUCH longer it took than I expected. However, since it didn’t happen at first, the damage is a lot deeper and more entrenched.
Continuing Greer:
“look at graphs of case numbers over time from places that locked down vs. places that didn’t, and you’ll find that locking down societies and putting millions of people out of work didn’t do a thing”“If you want people to put up patiently with long hours of drudgery at miserably low wages, subject to wretched conditions and humiliating policies, so that their self-proclaimed betters can enjoy lifestyles they will never be able to share, it’s a really bad idea to make them stop work and give them a good long period of solitude, in which they can think about what they want out of life and how little of it they’re getting from the role you want them to play. It’s an especially bad idea to do it so that they have no way of knowing when, or if, they will ever be allowed to return to their former lives, thus forcing them to look for other options…”
“So there’s a labor shortage, and it’s concentrated in exactly those jobs that are most essential to keeping the economy running. These are also the jobs most likely to have lousy pay and worse conditions. This isn’t accidental. It unfolds from one of the most pervasive and least discussed features of contemporary economic life: the metastatic growth of intermediation.”
PMC Karen. But including Financialization.
“The difficulty, of course, is that you can only take that so far before it’s no longer worth anyone’s while to do those poorly paid jobs on which the whole system depends. Here in the United States, we’ve reached that point, and not just for employees. Go to any town in flyover country and walk down the streets, past the empty storefronts where businesses used to flourish. There are millions of people who would love to start their own business, but it’s a losing proposition in an economy in which governments, banks, and property owners demand so large a cut that most small startup businesses can’t break even. The same is equally true, of course, for employees, whose wages no longer even pay the basic costs of getting by in today’s America.”
“Thus the economy of intermediation is strangling the economic activity on which it survives.”
“To change that would require the people whose jobs depend on intermediation to accept a drastic and permanent loss of status, influence, and wealth”
“One way or another, however, depending on regular employment in an ordinary job became a mug’s game quite some time ago and is quickly devolving further into a fool’s errand.”
…And then they started mask and vaq mandates. …That never worked, once, anywhere tried. Uh-huh. So I can keep the privilege of having half my income stolen by people who will stop all work and berate me for their perpetual failures. Sign me up! https://www.ecosophia.net/that-untraversed-land/

October 7, 2021 at 10:46 am #89393absolute galoreParticipantOver on Ecosophia’s weekly Covid discussion, Upstateny wrote: Deep down, whether acknowledged out loud or not, people who have been vaccinated are worried. Most of them inherently know something is off.
I reported a few days back that I was scheduled by my company to attend a trade show in November that required a vaccine pass–no exceptions, including no negative covid tests, no proof of prior infection–vaccine pass or you can’t attend. I pointed this out to the owner of the company and told him I had no plans to get vaccinated at this time.
After I sent this info to him via email, he spoke with me at the end of the work day. To his credit, he wanted to know why I was not gettng the vaccine. I did not get into the heavy stuff, but I did not really have to–I think he was more interested in using me as a sounding board, and wondering why someone who seemed reasonable, who took care of himself, biked to work, etc, would forego the vax. At one point, after giving all his reasons for getting vaccinated, and why he believed in them, he said “I like to be right, I don’t like to be wrong.”
The other day, buying my winter supply of Vitamin D3 (I stopped during the summer, hope that was not a mistake, but I get lots of outdoor time) I asked a fellow customer a question about brands (I’ve never been a vitamin taker until last year.) After kind of answering, she suddenly asked me if I had “gotten my booster” yet. I said no, I had not. She said she hadn’t either. She then complained about her mask and pulled it down (I wasn’t wearing one). She said she was tired of the whole vaccine issue, and intimated that she maybe got why people were not getting vaxxed, but really they probably should. I did not take the opportunity to engage with that, but I got the impression she might be starting to feel a bit conflicted about her choice. Still, if she knew I was unvaxxed, I have no doubt she would have pulled her mask back up and backed away, calling for the store manager;^)
I notice in one of today’s posts above that the figure of vaxxed Americans was given as 56%. I had previously heard reports that it was now well over 70% I wonder if the percentage has been readjusted to include 12-18 year olds. I suspect that is the case, and the great majority of adults are vaxxed, which will make things more and more difficult for those who choose otherwise.

NOT NOT NOT !!!The BBC story, like almost all stories pillorying antivaxxers and/or ivermectin, ended with a maudlin anecdote. Because what better way to emphasize THE SCIENCE, right?:
One GP in the country described a relative, a registered nurse, who didn’t book a coronavirus vaccine she was eligible for and then caught the virus.
“When she started getting worse, instead of getting proper assessment and treatment, she treated herself with ivermectin,” she said.
“Instead of consulting a doctor, she continued with the ivermectin and got home oxygen. By the time I heard how low her oxygen saturation levels were (66%), I begged her daughter to take her to casualty.
“At first they were reluctant, but I convinced them to go. She passed away a few hours later.”
You have to wonder, what is the point of falsifying these studies? Although it certainly appears some of them are, and some suffer from poor parameters. What happened to the big studies that the NIH (? or some other big org) said they were (finally) doing?
I do now have some doubt that it is quite the wonder drug it was first touted as, wiping out the virus in virtually all phases, all patients, so all these attacks take a toll. Certainly not enough to flush my supply down the toilet and get vaxxed. It’s nice to have the reassurance, but even if Ivm were not available, I would resist anyway and take my chances with vitamin D3 and maybe some over the counter antihistamines (any experience with those, Dr. Day?)

October 7, 2021 at 12:50 pm #89397boilingfrogParticipantAt this particular moment I have been struggling with the issue of “breakthrough cases”, and would appreciate any thoughts folks might add. When I go to the CDC’s webpage I find this:
[CDC] “The findings in this report are subject to at least two limitations. First, the number of reported COVID-19 vaccine breakthrough cases is likely a substantial undercount of all SARS-CoV-2 infections among fully vaccinated persons. The national surveillance system relies on passive and voluntary reporting, and data might not be complete or representative. Many persons with vaccine breakthrough infections, especially those who are asymptomatic or who experience mild illness, might not seek testing. Second, SARS-CoV-2 sequence data are available for only a small proportion of the reported cases.”
“Passive and voluntary”. Hmmm
How, I wonder, can the scientists be mandating shots, but NOT mandating data collection? That, in and of itself, is crazy. Or, an intentional attempt to ‘spoof’ the data. Especially egregious when one looks at the very specific Part I and Part II directions to coroners.
Last I heard, the Israeli data was no longer being reported. Still true (if it ever was)?
A close friend is about to lose her low-paying ‘clerk’ job at a government subcontractor for refusing the shot. Her step-sister is still having seizures after taking shot #2.
Thankfully, the search for Saddam’s WMD’s continues, the minor inflation is only transitory, monopolies continue to be broken up, Fed executives (and staff and relatives) don’t trade on insider information, our local and tiny ‘executive’ airport actually DOES have over 100 landings & takeoffs a day which granted them Federal monies for extending the runway so that rich alums (who certainly pay too much in taxes and get no government handouts) could fly their new, bigger jets in for the Notre Dame game. But don’t you worry, all low-paid concessionaires will be wearing masks!

As of October 6, 2021: 114 institutions and offices in well over 20 countries have responded thus far, as well as some “SARS-COV-2 isolation” study authors, and none have provided or cited any record describing actual “SARS-COV-2” isolation/purification.
Numerous institutions have also made it explicitly clear that isolation/purification is simply never done in virology, and that “isolation” in virology means the exact opposite of what it means in everyday English. This is also evidenced in every “virus isolation” paper we have ever seen, for any alleged “virus”.

My concern is I have a 5 year old son and don’t want him to be a part of this. While my wife and I haven’t discussed our options, a likely path will be a vax mandate to be allowed to be in school. Another way of saying that is noncompliance means one parent would have to give up their career to home school him and even then he would miss out on the benefits of being with kids his age, etc.
Any thoughts on what our options are? What a dark time we live in

Not: “I am not and do not intend to get vaccinated”, but rather, “I refuse to show proof that I am vaccinated”.This works even if you have already said you are not vaccinated. The “vaccine” centers are still open. It will be difficult for them to prove you are not now “vaccinated”.

Options:
1) move someplace without the requirement (hard to predict where that might be right now)
2) live someplace (like AZ) where home schoolers are able to get funds from state to educate their children. Use those funds to pay for private school. In AZ there are all sorts of varieties of schools and organizations that provide schooling and educational activities for “home schoolers.” My sister has been using these funds for several years — currently, the kids are going to a tiny school on a property that houses three such tiny schools. They don’t require masks or jabs, etc., but are likely not accredited, caveat emptor.
3) pay for private schooling out of pocket (have to find a private school not mandating jabs)
4) switch around parental work schedule so one parent is available to be with child and “home school.” There are LOTS of resources to make this easy. You can purchase curriculums, use outschool.com, etc.
5) band together with other parents in the same boat to set up “cooperative schooling.” Especially former school teachers who lost their job due to the mandates. A group of parents could probably pool their resources and pay the teacher, which would give the teacher a job, and the students an experienced teacher. As long as both parents are on the same page regarding vaccination, you have lots of options.

The way my mind works, I automatically and routinely try to come up with and seek out ways to “do stuff differently” and to use the rules of the current system in novel ways to benefit myself and my children. In the past 9 years this has been how I survived. I am self-employed because I realized that it was the most efficient way to be an involved parent and also to make enough money in a small enough period of time that I still had the energy to parent – i.e. there is very little (none, in most cases,) being skimmed off the top of my labor. Yes, the lockdowns and the need to evade vaccin3 mandates will push many more people to push the envelope and figure out the least they need from the system in order to survive — just as I have done. It will force more independence and push people to learn to be more resilient, self-reliant and community-reliant.
