“I wouldn’t want them anywhere near my parents or my children. If you have the freedom to refuse being tested, society has the freedom to ban you from public places, streets, stores etc. Like lepers forced to wear bells and clappers.”
Sorry to hear you feel that way. So do you advocate identifying those that comply (take the test) or those that don’t? Perhaps a chip? Maybe wear a star? force them (those that refuse) into banishment?
What next then Raul? How about anything contagious. How about anything that causes people to be scared? We are heading down a very slippery slope without much thought. Worse yet, it’s being advocated by a panicked public with the full blessing of people that thrive on controlling other people. This is not about the virus Raul.
You’ll probably get your way. Popular thought seems to agree with you (for the first time ever))Politicians are already using peer pressure to do their bidding. A convenient way to bypass their constitutions. Old ladies in Greece etc etc.neohParticipant“You can forget about re-opening your economy without all-out testing. You can forget about travel if you haven’t been tested. At least twice.”
Are you suggesting mandatory testing? What if someone refuses to be tested? What if 20 million people refuse to be tested? Concentration camp?
Hell, might as well store everybody’s dna signature while you are at it. This is the time to do it since people are scared s__tless.
People, please consider the long range implications instead of short term fears. The virus will eventually pass.neohParticipantRaul said”I’ve been so far ahead of any parties -except perhaps the CCP initially, but I don’t think you have them in mind-, that it would be physically impossible for me to follow any of them or toe their lines.
So I have no idea what this means. What party, what line?”
Hi Raul. The party line in this case would be the message of fear. For example, at the beginning of your columns, you have been posting two sets of statistics that are (I feel) very misleading since we don’t have the slightest clue of what the correct denominator is. I am used to you being brutally honest about these type of things, for example, normally you would be telling your readers repeatedly that healthy asymmetric infections are not included. Fearful people are easy to control which brings me to the second point.
When I reference TAE, I do not mean specifically you. I was surprised by how many contributors support government imposed quarantines and the prohibition against assembly. I did not expect such fear here.I certainty didn’t expect them to trust governments that have demonstrated repeatedly, actually always, that our interest is the least of their concern.
I do apologize for my comment. I’m old enough to know not to push the post button when angry. This is your show and I’ll continue to support and respect that. As I’ve said, I seldom commented during the last decade. The current event troubles me.neohParticipantPictures of hospital tents during the 2017-2018 flu season. You can find more if you want to google it:
They didn’t even consider shutting down the world:
https://time.com/5107984/hospitals-handling-burden-flu-patients/Another article that claimed 80,000 people in the US died during the 2017-2018 flu season from the flu. Thank you to TAE posters that have informed me that it might not have been the flu but a combination of other illness. Might be the same now? Who knows for sure? not me, not anybody:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/last-years-flu-broke-records-for-deaths-and-illnesses-new-cdc-numbers-show/2018/09/26/97cb43fc-c0ed-11e8-90c9-23f963eea204_story.htmlI don’t deny that there is a serious illness going around. Illness doesn’t surprise or scare me. More worrisome is the action and fear being spoon fed to the public!
neohParticipantFrom the previous thread:
“For example, neoh: “I never thought I would see TAE and the MSM linking arms like this.”Really? Wow. As my grandmother always said, if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all. wtf”
My apology upstate. Don’t mean to offend. But I do find it odd that this thread, which I have read daily since 2009 seems to be following the party line about this event. Not something I’m used to seeing here. Your complaint is noted. I’ll be nicer. FWIW, Raul is tough enough to defend himself.
“neoh, what is the source of your claim that 59-80% of the population has already had the virus and recovered? Where did you read that? Who made that claim?”
Boog, I was not coherent. meant to say 50-80% of young people show little to no symptoms. Will show links if you wish for future comments.neohParticipant“For example, neoh: “I never thought I would see TAE and the MSM linking arms like this.”

Boog, I was not coherent. meant to say 50-80% of young people show little to no symptoms. Will show links if you wish for future comments.neohParticipantThe ‘stats’ are useless.
A large number of people, especially healthy people, have already had the virus and recovered. The ‘tests’ do not identify this group (59%-80%) of the population.
Therefore, the mortality and death rate is complete bs.
I never thought I would see TAE and the MSM linking arms like this.To contribute to Dr.D’s anti logos. In Ohio, if you get layed off from your $15.00/hr job, you now qualify for ~$950.00/wk in unemployment benefits. Why work?? Meanwhile, employers are being offered a windfall to not layoff employees.
Sumac Carol is correct. Social distancing, dystopian messaging, fear, isolation, and trusting daddy government will kill many more than the virus.neohParticipantThank You Captain Nemo. A must read. I can’t comment much because it’ says it all.
“Swiss Propaganda Research has a site called “Facts about Covid-19” – it will be updated daily. You’ll find the newest information by scrolling down. https://swprs.org/a-swiss-doctor-on-covid-19/”
The beginning and ending quote is priceless:
The only means to fight the plague is honestyneohParticipantIn Ohio, They’ve closed the play grounds but the golf courses are still open. I hate gentrification.
neohParticipantDr D Rich said “Now, for the difficult discussion. COVID-19 affects the elderly (let’s agree to over 65 yrs old) with the most co-morbidities (heart disease, COPD, asthma, DM, cancer etc)….”
I’m glad you brought it up. I’m in that age group and I can’t think of a better age group for this pandemic to kill. I would find it horrifying if it was killing my children and grandchildren as in 1918.
There are over 7.5 billion people on this planet. So if a 105 people die every minute normally + another 3-6 due to the virus, and most of those are old and sick anyway, then we as a species have a long way to go to even worry since about 250 births occur each minute. Total 110 deaths vs 250 births.neohParticipantWes, I don’t think young people in my part of the world understand what is happening. Their job won’t be there when the quarantine is lifted because the place they used to work at will be no more, The survivors will be the usual walmart, mcdonalds, amazon and other ucky places.
It also bothers me the way that the government is handing out money. Do they know that it will soon be worthless?
The USA has extended tax filing by months!! They don’t do that to be nice.neohParticipantI don’t doubt that there is a pandemic. I have lots of questions
1. What is the actual number of cases? I know that 7.5 billion people have not been tested
2. Of the ones that were tested, why were they tested?
3. What percentage of the people that died had serious health issues?
4. About 105 people die every minute, the pandemic is currently claiming 4 per minute. What do the 105/minute die from?
Lots more questions but enough for now. Not trying to be a smart ass, just trying to figure why such the scare? Nobody escapes death.neohParticipantWES said “Yesterday, I ventured out to the local Walmart to get groceries….If this is what the new normal looks like, I can live with it. The other option, I don’t want to think about it.”
I don’t know WES, do you really want some goon from walmart telling you how to behave?
Dr. D had a post a few days ago about the future.
If people are this germophobic then I expect dating 50 yrs from now to be boy meets girl, they get to know each other separated by a sheet of Plexiglas in a romantically ultra violet room. If they like each other then boy masturbates into petri dish where medical experts and politicians decide if egg should be added. Or maybe walmart will assume that roll.neohParticipantI agree carol. Unfortunately, the world was simultaneously bombarded by both the main stream and alternative media, both of which have spent 24/7 scaring people to death.
Slowly, other opinions will emerge but the damage is done.
A link to the Ohio dept of Health which shows a model that indicates Ohioans would be looking in the rear view mirror by now if the draconian measures had not been forced upon us. Sure it’s only a model and many more deaths might have occurred but I prefer to get things over with. Similar to how to big to fail should have been allowed to fail but people felt extended pain was better.neohParticipantAn interesting model from the Ohio Health department indicates that the virus would have passed by now but there would possibly be more deaths if social distancing etc was not implemented. Less deaths but many more weeks to go under the current system.
neohParticipant“Greek Prime Minister Kiriakos Mitsotakis who was among the first EU leaders to implement a strict quarantine in Greece, in now transferring the authority of enforcing the quarantine to Greek women…”
Things are going from bad to worse. So the PM designates that old ladies, as shown in the picture, allow their old lady friends to slide but penalize anything younger and prettier (since they are obviously trollops).
I guess the US is only place with dumb politicians.neohParticipantDoc Robinson and Dr D. The article is worrisome to me. Not because of the possibility that flu cases have been grossly inflated but because physicians can’t be trusted either.
I’m not a medical dr. I get a flu shot because my physician recommends it. Most do. I guess the medical community should be added to the do not trust list. I knew big pharma and insurance were there but I didn’t suspect the doctors.
I’ve read of many nurses that won’t get the jab and have been punished for it. Maybe they know something the docs aren’t revealing?neohParticipantriesterm, Dr.D
Most of the population, unfortunately, does not understand large numbers let alone fractions, decimals or percentages. They certainly don’t know history.
Anyway, at least for now, the world has surrendered an unimaginable amount of wealth, liberty,,and good custom because of a run of the mill 100-200 year virus that everybody knew would eventually occur.
The reaction to the virus has taken on a life of its own. The virus will pass long before the reaction will be repaired. People love scary movies so they will continue to watch scary news. Some will say “I told you so”, forgetting that a broken clock is correct twice a day. Most of us do worse than the broken clock if we are willing to admit it.neohParticipant“I wrote the piece somewhat tongue in cheek but there is an element of truth in it.”
Glad to hear that it’s tongue in cheek. I missed that. I’m also what some might describe as a boomer, although a somewhat despicable one in America’s flyover land. Yes we voted for Trump but we also voted for Obama at least once. So we are not racist. Obama was barely a boomer, at least as defined by his age. So the nation was fooled by younger blood also. That’s why I don’t like to sub-divide age groups and prefer to use the concept of everybody that is here at the time.
My children and grandchildren and most that they associate with do not blame the worlds, or the nations problems on any particular demographic. They are aware that the people that are currently’ in charge’ are there because of a culture of corporate “money talks”.
Under this arrangement, the successor of the boomers will be hand picked younger people, probably similar to Hunter.neohParticipant” France, Czechs, & Other US Allies Exit Iraq Over COVID-19 Fears ”
zero, that may not be the reason they’re considering leaving. Might be a different not so good mission
neohParticipant“At their age they are unlikely to suffer serious illness, and are more likely to become asymptomatic carriers. Those most at risk are the Baby Boomers. This is the generation which has sucked up most of the future wealth of the US and left the bill to the Spring Breaker generation.”
Sorry about your daddy issues. The mythical boomers have been over the hill for a long time. They don’t have power over you. Stop making excuses. Step up to the plate and be part of the solution.
Anyway, a generation is defined as anybody that has reached the age of reason at any point in time. That would include you.neohParticipant“If not a single person will risk themselves, will die for our principles of law, equality, and freedom who am I to say? Does any group who so cowers and begs and abandon their neighbors deserve better? We’re going to fight a war against a worldwide, invisible enemy and not lose a single man. If a single man is lost, or even risked, we’ll surrender all instantly, on the spot as we have a sub-0.4% chance of dying. Right? Sound good? Sign-up sheet is at the door. Let us all know which you choose, who you are.”
Well said Dr.D, Your entire post. Never thought I would see the day that so many of my alternatively thinking friends would be so fearful and willing to give up everything.
I guess I understand the people in the Jim Jones cult better now. Isolate them, make them fearful, and saturate their lives with fear and they’ll do the unthinkable.
Be careful people. There is more than one Lori Vallow end end of world cults out there masquerading as spiritually enlightened. Scared people fall for the dardest things.neohParticipant“Africa. Pray.”
I absolutely agree with this.
The only countries that can afford a quarantine are countries that can invent money. When fiat money collapses, the people will be faced with same option that their ancestors faced. Accept the chance that you may catch the disease or accept that you may survive or die, or the certainty that your family will starve if you don’t work .
This was a no brainer for our ancestorsneohParticipantBut Dr.D, even if we save one life! gag. I’m ashamed of the virtue signalers. I expect better. How about “if we can save one child”. Or better yet, one gay trans gender black child! That’ll get congress moving.
neohParticipantVet, I’m not disputing quarantines when warranted. A death count of ~10,000 over a 4 month period does not warrant a planet wide lock down.
The damage caused by excessive action may already be permanent. The loss of civil liberties may last generations.
Yes quarantines make sense sometimes. When my parents were children, it was common to hang a sign that read “scarlet fever” in your window. They didn’t shut down the world.
Please note that the same politicos that are advocating these draconian measures were pretty much ignored by TAE members a mere 60 days ago. Why believe them now? We’ve been fooled again.
I’ve read TAE daily for a long time. I remember Raul suggesting that we we say twenty-ten when 2010 was arriving instead of saying two thousand ten. Ive agreed with the philosophy of this board for over eleven years and rarely commented. This is the first time I disagree entirely so I voice my opinion.neohParticipant“• Scientists Say Mass Tests In Italian Town Have Halted COVID-19 (G.)

I guess because according to them he’s done wonderfully so far.”
They won’t listen Dr.D. You’ll get the same answer “I don’t want my family to suffocate from coronavirus” take away everything. just save me. They are willing to be quarantined for ever, aka a martial law curfew. They will get there wish! As noted by this type of comment:
“Excuse me, but why do they let it happen? Once you’ve been through Wave 1, shouldn’t you know better than to let people travel abroad and come back?”
and what about wave 3-4-5-6… quick hide in the caves
A great example of how soft the west has become.
neohParticipant“Are there a lot of people around here who have virus fatigue yet?”
Not on the TAE board since we tend to discuss reactions and ramifications instead of panic panic panicAn example of virus fatigue from MSM:today:
Virus infections reach 200,000!!!
Due to a math impaired population in my country… .0025% (approximate)neohParticipantThe new word for curfew is “shelter in place”. That order will be used long after the virus.

Good question. A country that literally had a travelling revolving door with China and has an average age of 103.
“1. Coughing in public, oh hell, for that matter in your own home elicits disdainful looks from both family and strangers.
2. Verbally, openly disagreeing with the agenda imposed on the entire world’s mass of people results in a vicious rebuke or sideways glance. (Look askance)”
Reminds me of criticizing the Iraq invasion/wmd thing. Back then the frightened sheeple bought all the duct tape.
Raul, don’t know why Italy got slammed and Japan and other places haven’t but something stinks…really bad.neohParticipantI dabble in silver. It’s dropped like a rock the past few weeks but try buying some. This is posted on BGASC website today:
Please Note: To ensure we maintain our high level of service, BGASC is currently not accepting any new orders at this time. Our entire staff is working diligently to pack & ship the large volume of orders we have received in the past 72 hours. We will reopen our online store on Monday at 8:30am PDT for new orders. We appreciate your business.
neohParticipant“There are two things that are infinite, stupidity and the universe, and I’m not sure about the universe.”
Yes, like people being tested and thinking they’re in the clear. You might catch it while you are standing inline for your test. Acting like a test is a vaccination. Might as well get tested daily to be sure since pat results don’t guarantee future performance.
Testing is way over rated. Might as well get a weekly cancer test also.
I’m not against testing but I think people are assuming too much. Either they’ll die if positive or that they’re immune if negative.neohParticipantGood points Rototillerman. I live in Ohio. Everything was quiet until yesterday when our fearless leader governor decided to close our schools and his health adviser announced that there are at least 100k active cases in Ohio (fwiw, they’re not going to the emergency room). Emergency room visits for respiratory problems have not increased, at least not yet, and are down slightly from last month.
So now we have panic buying, paranoid people when they cough, paranoid people when someone coughs next to them…and not much toilet paper or dog food.
It didn’t help when the Cleveland Clinic announced “free” testing. No such thing as a free lunch or anything for that matter.
Not much happening in the summertime southern hemisphere. Not too bad in Greece (no ski slopes there).neohParticipantThanks Frank3. Your short report is better than anything available from the msm.
neohParticipant“See …. that is what happens when you don’t test.
Now, what can you do to save granny?”
zero, I understand that testing has been a cluster but do we really want the government to mandate testing of people that are displaying little or no symptoms? And if the kids test positive, do we want them hauled off to quarantine camps?
There may be disease outbreaks when that may be required but I don’t think this one of them.
Personally, and it’s just me, and concerning this disease, the less federal government the better.neohParticipantSad but comical. Keystone cops. Governors all standing in front of cameras looking glum. All ordering or suggesting cancellation of college classes.
Apparently no worries about primary and high schools!
I like the way Japan handles it. They suck it up and don’t complain. Their culture does not condone expressions of anxiety that would make others uncomfortable. Hoarding would be considered impolite. In the west, anything uncomfortable is an excuse for mayhem and rioting.neohParticipantYou crack me up Dr. D. Are you saying Peter Townsend was wrong?
The sickness seems to be infecting the old ad sick (I’m old but net that type of sick). Normal. An interesting article on why Italy seems to be having more of a problem (hint, old people):
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/why-deaths-from-coronavirus-are-so-high-in-italy/neohParticipantI agree Dr, D, If someone is dumb enough to buy Purell then let them buy it. The best way to stop hoarding is to let the market set the price. Especially in this case when there is plenty of Purell available but the shelves are empty due to frightened sheeple. There is a difference between the Purell example and price gouging by pharma, where the cost to provide is low but if you want to live then you’ll figure out how to pay the cost. But the sheeple believed George W when he said that Americans should pay more because of the R&D involved. Never mind that the same drug by the same supplier is only 5% of the cost elsewhere.
I guess I shouldn’t be surprised though. Let’s see Korea/. Viet Nam (domino theory) etc etc etc. Too many to mention.
Had to buy dust masks for my company yesterday from the same industrial supplier I’ve been doing business with for 30 + years. All I can say is that the sheeple have panicked. All medias are having a field day!neohParticipantI think I agree V.Arnold.
What I perceive as facts, at least so far, is that there is a really nasty “bug” circulating that seems to be more fatal to the sick and elderly (fwiw, I’m elderly). Worse than the flu but know where near anything that would make a popular disaster movie.
The reaction of people is a different matter. Weekend warrior Libertarians, Anarchists, and Socialists are convinced the sky is falling and want the government to fix it. No thanks. And I don’t want to volunteer for mass testing either. I prefer to delay starting that precedent at this time. Once that happens, sheeple will willingly go to government quarantine camps.
Good chance this will happen. MSM and alt media have linked arms and decided the governments should be allowed to do anything to control a viral bug that is no where near disaster. Once precedent is established it then becomes difficult to reverse.neohParticipant“Iran has temporarily released more than 54,000 prisoners in an effort to combat the spread of the new coronavirus disease in crowded jails,” the BBC reports.”
That would be a disaster in the usa zero. We were discussing this last week. I imagine the first cluster among the prison population will result in staff and guards calling in sick. And many public employees get a ridiculous amount of sick time in the USA.
As has been mentioned, our reaction to the virus will be more severe than the virus. -
