My read of history says the people are always worse off after a crisis due to the elites using the opportunity to steal more wealth from the people than they could get away with in normal times.
During a crisis, the normal checks break down allowing the elites to plunder without restraint.
Observing Washington and Ottawa, there is no crisis, it is business as usual.

When my Father was dying of leukemia, he was struggling with constant nasal infections.
His older brother was a retired doctor, who kept his license too, so he could help out in his son’s practice, so he proscribed sulfa meds, so my Father could at least sleep at night.
I don’t believe a practicing doctor would normally proscribed sulfa for such long term use (years).
P.S. My cousin said the problem with his Father helping out, especially when on vacation, was his Father would spoil all his patients by taking extra time to chat up all the patients, which of course they loved! My uncle was a people person plus retired, not trying to make a living!
Then when my cousin came back he had to get them back on the regular bang, bang, schedule! They would all say, but your Father never rushed!

My son and daughter are both at home.
Daughter has been home from university for nearly 10 days now. Yesterday she had to go downtown Toronto to remove all her stuff from her student residence since it will close today. She said there are still too many stupid idiots wandering around in Toronto. Last night Trudope finally said enough is enough. Nobody will listen!
My son has been home since last Thursday. He services GE wind turbines so is on call if one goes down.
Today my brother in Detroit called to let me know Michigan is in lockdown now. He has been working from home from GM for about 10 days already. He gets to crash test cars for a living! It is the paperwork afterwards that is the real killer!
Today both Quebec and Ontario are shutting down all unessential businesses just like Michigan. Before they were just asking. Now they are telling!
Quebec is now even arresting quarantine violators! Just like their cousins in France needing a note to be about! Short Gaulic tempers!
Interesting piece of history re-Quebec. The english word “bigot” comes courtesy of a certain selfish French governor called Mr. Bigot! He is responsible for the fall of Quebec City to the British. He wouldn’t give the French general the use of local militia, so the French general faced the British with only French troops! Both generals died!
Naturally Mr. Bigot lived to go back to France rich! No justice back then either!

Earlier today I saw an article where a doctor, Alain Gauthier, somehow managed to connect 9 patients to one ventilator machine since his hospital only had 1 or 2 machines.

I also saw where two patients were connected to one ventilator but the catch was they had to be about the same size and use the same amount of air.
Generic:. Talking of lung scarring. My brother caught valley fever while living in Arizona. Valley fever also leaves scarring in the lungs. This has caused some difficulties getting visas, like China, that require X-rays. He has to provide doctor’s note saying the lung scars are from valley fever.

I find it sad AG Bill Barr is trying use this virus to make a power grab so he has the power to arbritarily arrest and detain people indefinitely without access to a lawyer or the right to appear before a judge. Proves 100% he is deep state.

Just a guess but the US drug companies probably want to fire President Trump for telling Americans what you have been saying forever! Now they don’t get to make a killing!
Not sure if you grow some corn or not. My Father loved his corn on the cob! His problems were the squirrels followed by raccoons.
The squirrels liked to climb up the young corn stalks and topple them to the ground before tasting the immature cobs basically killing that stalk. Naturally for years the raccoons got the blame!
Then one day my Father caught a squirrel in the act! From that point on, he drove wooden stakes at the end of each row of corn and then weaved two strings between each corn stalk, tied for support to the wooden stakes. This prevented the squirrels from doing their thing! That discovery made Dad a happy camper!
Mom grew tomatoes but always put a large tin can around the stalk to keep the bugs away until the tomato stems could hardened.
My observation of the big variations in death rates mostly reflects the size of the denominator.
The exception is where an area’s medical facilities get completely over run and basically crash because too many of its medical workers get sick. This is Wuhan, Iran, and northern Italy.
If you do little testing, then the size of the denominator is unknown.
(That is my province, Ontario, which is not doing community spread testing. Only people who have travelled from 8 selected countries are eligible to be tested. If your Canadian, you are not eligible to be tested, just self isolate at home. My daughter and son are not counted in any statistics! )
For example, if the death rate is 1%, then Italy with over 4,000 dead, may have over 400,000 people infected. But likely we will never know.

My Father’s older deceased brother was a doctor and I remember all the political shit he had to put up with too! The family will soon be back to two doctors, as the youngest graduates soon.

My wife’s mother had her electric wheelchair taken away because she was running into things and running over people! And she didn’t give a dam either! It was always someone else’s fault!

Your idea of jumping off the city rat race bandwagon into the country is very romantic but unfortunately full of pitfalls for most people. to
Most people I know who live on small hobby farms, support themselves with a full time job in the city! They have long commutes to work.
Many of these types of people are highly educated, motivated, disciplined, and very skilled with their hands! These people can troubleshoot and fix anything put in front of them! I know very few people like that! It is very rare to find people who can think for themselves and translate that into reality with their hands!
Another thing I have noticed about these types of people, is they grew up with a father doing all of these things. So obviously they had a 18 year head start on most people!
Luckily, my brother and I grew up with such a Father! By profession, a mining engineer, but by trade a carpenter, plumber, electrician, mechanic, and self taught financial advisor.
I can tell you neither my brother nor myself would ever consider taking on a hobby farm! First of all it is way too much dam work! But of course we know this from being exposed to farm life growing up! We also know there is no dam money in it either! Sure you can grow veg’s but mostly the excess you end up giving away!
Here is another thing to factor in. Rural areas often have zoning, preventing the split up farms into smaller parcels. Any that currently exist are already occupied by people with the same idea as you, especially if within commuting distance to cities! Therefore very expensive!
Also small lots may be too small to build on because you need sufficient land to put a septic system in. Many lots are too small, so you can’t get a building permit! Beware of people saying you can get a building permit, no problem! The borough will gladly sell you a building permit but later you may find that you cannot get a septic system permit from the health authorities! Often they won’t let you camp either! P.S. You won’t get your building permit money back! They love these kinds of Suckers!
If you do find a small piece of land cheap, it is cheap for a reason! Often it is too far away from anything important! Like shopping, hospitals, medical services, no water, poor soil, flood plain, swamps, etc!
Yes, one other thing! Bugs! Yeah! How comfortable are you with bugs? How about spider webs in your face and hair everywhere you go? Black flies in spring? Misquitoes the rest of the summer and fall? Ants crawling everywhere! Oh, yes ticks and Lyme disease! Picking ticks and thistles from you dogs hair? If you swim, swimmer’s itch from water fowl! Blood suckers too! I love to watch them suckers die by putting salt on them!
Going from the big bad crowded city to the middle of no where takes a certain type of person! You need to be very comfortable with just yourself as company! I don’t know too many people tuff enough to do that for long periods of time. Most people simply go stir crazy!
If you are still thinking of doing this, then you need to learn to become more independent, especially financially! Or have a skill that allows you to live in the country and work in the city so you can transition yourself over time. Don’t mind driving helps!
Another thing I like to do when I get the urge to go country, is to watch You-tube videos of people already living or trying to live this life!
It can be very entertaining watching them chop down a tree only to have it fall on their house! Remove a tree stump! Get rid of gofers in their garden! Digging a water well! Dealing with mice, Chipmunks, squirrels, raccoons, and coyotes! Hilarious! Creating off grid power systems! Foxes stealing their chickens!
The nice thing about watching these earthly types and their mis-adventures on You-tube is it costs you nothing and you can join them when you feel like it! You also get to leave them when you want too! This is how I get my fix!

I have noticed that Ontario health officials seem to have stopped their daily media briefings this week. I can find daily health briefings from the other 9 provinces, just not Ontario!
In the last 4 days, confirmed cases have fallen every day this week! Monday 43, Tuesday 32,. Wednesday 13, and today Thursday, just 12 new cases!
Obviously Ontario must be winning the war on the coronavirus! Just like China!
Wrong! They have just stop testing!
Today is an interesting day for my family of four.
Yesterday my daughter, 19 years old, just back from the now closed university in downtown Toronto, came down with a fever. She showed all the symptoms of the coronavirus. Today she says she feels better.
My son, 23, works as a GE wind turbine technician, called in sick today due to his sister’s illness, just to be on the safe side, considering what the government is saying. He is only allowed 3 sick days a year. After that he doesn’t get paid.
We were discussing at supper how Ontario is not testing people anymore, now that they have lost the battle to contain the coronavirus. In the last 3 days, the total number tested in Ontario has fallen sharply, from 42, 32, to just 13 yesterday.
We know of 3 people who likely have the virus! Brother-in-law is quite sick and went to the hospital but they just X-rayed him, gave him a prescription, and sent him home! No test of course! We will see how he does.
So the virus numbers out of Ontario now are 100% fake! Just like China! They do not want to know if you have the virus! It is Don’t Tell and we won’t ask! Not even Stalin is counting now!
Ontario assessment centers are saying don’t come, stay at home! We don’t want to see you and we will not test you even if you have the coronavirus! Basically, please don’t bother us, we are too busy!
If my son stays home, then GE will test him and if he doesn’t have the coronavirus, they won’t pay him! And neither will the government!
The end result of all of this shit, is my son will be going back to work tomorrow! Virus or no virus!
My daughter works at a golf courses’s Sunday brunch. She has to give 2 weeks notice before hand if she will miss work. Since it is this Sunday, I can only hope the government or the restaurant decides to close first! Otherwise, she has to work or she will lose her summer job!
Some pretty choices, eh!
As for my wife and I, we have been hibernating all winter anyways, its Canada after all, so self isolating isn’t much of a life style change. We still have patches of snow and ice on the ground. I haven’t worked for 19 years. So I am just a useless bum with a home! One dwarf Dutch rabbit and her chipmunk friend are dependent upon my pet welfare! The mice get peanut butter!

My daughter is mostly staying in her room, going online to keep up her business course work, as the university has switched to 100% online.
I am interfacing with my daughter, cooking all the meals for everybody (as I have been doing for decades plus food shopping), so my more vulnerable wife can keep her distance.
I wash my hands more frequently too. I have upped my UVB light therapy from 5 to 10 minutes to increase my skin’s vitamin D. I will probably put my wife on it too.
So life continues!

Today my 19 year old daughter came down with a fever and runny nose. She just came home from University as they are going online now. So some concern here.
There is very definitely community spread here in Toronto since the Fed and prov governments here have followed the doomed Don’t Test, Don’t Tell procedure. Cases doubling every day now.
No tests are available even if you have the coronavirus!

My wife read a comment from a Japanese doctor. How true this is I don’t know, but from an engineering point of view it makes some sense.
The Japanese doctor said if you catch the coronavirus, there is a simple test you can do at home concerning your ability to breath.
Hold your breath for 10 seconds.
If you can hold your breath for 10 seconds without any difficulty, then the coronavirus has not yet entered your lungs in any serious way.
If you can not hold your breath for 10 seconds without difficulty, then you should immediately seek medical help!
I would have to think this doesn’t apply to people, like my wife with asma (uses puffer), who have pre-existing lung problems. I doubt she could hold breath for 10 seconds.
John, what are your thoughts on this?

Ontario has clearly lost the containment battle and is no longer testing people with the coronavirus.
Folks in Ontario finally figured this out and panicked, cleaning out the grocery store shelves!
Snow is now being hoarded!

Walmart store shelves were empty tonight! The panic started slowly Wednesday night, picked up steam Thursday, and on Friday people were running into the store from their cars!

Most surprising we are seeing leadership from the province of Quebec of all places! BC and Ontario have the most cases and should be leading but are not! BC is doing better than Ontario!
Yesterday, Quebec closed all their schools, from day care to universities! Hard to believe!
Today a few universities in Ontario are going online. My daughter’s school, Ryerson, in downtown Toronto, announced everything is going online.
Thanks Quebec for kicking everybody else’s (especially Ontario’s) ass into some kind of action!
Quebec is opening 10 more regional community centers (2 already operational) with testing. Total = 12.
Ontario is just opening it’s first “assestment” center, and no you can not get tested there! Testing is reserved for only those who qualify! (and you don’t!)

My wife read something from a Japanese doctor.
The doctor said one way to self test at home if you think you have the virus is to try and hold your breath for 10 seconds. If you can, then the virus has not yet spread to your lungs. However if you discover that you cannot hold your breath for 10 seconds without difficulty, then you need to seek medical attention immediately.
Now that the coronavirus has possibly hit home, maybe now Trudeau will get serious!
Now everybody in the world will just travel through Canada to get to the US!
There are still direct flights between Canada to everywhere in the world!
Want to fly to China? Direct flights to Shanghai!
Nobody is being screened entering Canada!
In Ontario there is still no community testing!

Read a study on SARS self quarantine results. The study showed only 57% actually quarantined! The other 43% didn’t bother to quarantine themselves as it was too much effort and it interfered too much with their lives!
To back up the cheating results, one of the US’s top SARS scientists, who caught SARS, was seen in public, with recorded photos of her as proof!
So quarantining only works for just over half the population! So those Canadian health officials droning on how everybody is self quarantining themselves are just full of it!
On a side note:. Some of you know I suffer from RP in my eyes!
When I was first diagnosed with RP and was legally blind, my doctor said by law he was legally required by law to report me to the government and they would take away my driver’s license. However he said he wasn’t going to report me, leaving everything up to me to decide. Naturally I let my wife drive me home!
About 5 years later, I read an interesting article from the Canadian or American medical association, about what happens when doctors do or don’t report patients.
First of all doctors did not like being forced by the government to play the roll of God for their patients. Very Understandable!
So here is what this study found!
When doctors did report their patients, 75% after loosing their driver’s license, continued to drive!
However, when doctors did not report their patients to the government, 75% quit driving on their own!
So my doctor was very smart! He already knew this!
I know John Day, Dr. D, Dr. Rich, will probably say that sounds about right! Basic Humans 101!
My take on this is when people are given the power to decide what is in their best long term interest, the majority will make the responsible decision.
However if another person or the government makes the decision for a person, that person will resent it and probably continue doing whatever they have been told they can no longer do!

Obviously the side of beef directing the DNC’s theatre isn’t willing to take any chances that old Joe might steal her nominatiion!
Dr. D:. Leadership is kind of a strange thing to define.
We often think leadership means making a lot of noise in front of a group of people.
However most leadership really comes from quiet determined individuals just going about their daily lives. These kinds of people lead by simply putting their thoughts into action. If they are not there, then nothing happens. For these types of people you can safely shoot their leaders and nothing will happen!
Some of these quiet leaders are socially shy. They don’t say much. They just quietly convert their thoughts into reality. However try to divert them from their tasks, you will only succeed temporarily, because as soon as you stop pushing them, they will revert right back to doing what they perceive to be their first priority.
Sometimes when trying to push them against their will, they will suddenly and unexpectedly react in a manner you don’t expect. Then you have discovered too late, that they won’t jump off the cliff as you were expecting them too!
I call these types crocodiles! Push them too hard and they will quietly lure you into deeper and deeper water, before suddenly turning on you and drowning you!
Crocodiles are leaders too!

I suspect I am just a bit more jaded about Canada’s media than you are! I also started life in Quebec which didn’t help my outlook either! Then there was my very woke Father!
I also suspect another reason for my being so jaded, relates to the fact that I have worked in many different countries around the world. This certainly helped to open my eyes to things I would have been perfectly happy to have never seen!
I have been overseas when; the Shah of Iran was over thrown, the Falklands Islands War, the Congo civil war, the Israeli’s bombing Iraq’s nuclear plant, the USSR shooting down a Korean 747 airliner. All impacted me directly!
Don’t get me wrong! I still think both Canada and the US are two of the best countries in the world to call home! I just think they could both do better!
I certainly hope both Canada and the US are able to cope with the coronavirus!
After all, I have family in both countries!
